Subject: Research Participants Needed: Non-Binary Native Speakers of Russian
I am conducting my PhD research on how non‑binary individuals who are
native speakers of Russian navigate and construct their gender
identities through everyday language use. Russian is a highly gendered
language, and existing grammatical norms often presume a binary
division between “male” and “female” speakers. This creates unique
linguistic and social challenges for non‑binary people whose
identities do not fit into this binary framework.
To understand these challenges and the strategies, I would like to
conduct online interviews. This study aims to document emergent
practices and to analyse how these practices relate to broader
questions of inclusion, visibility, and linguistic change in Russian.
