The forthcoming issue of Studies and Research in Onomastics and
Lexicology (SCOL) will be dedicated to the memory of Iulia Mărgărit, a
distinguished scholar of Romanian linguistics whose fundamental
contributions advanced research into dialectal vocabulary, onomastics
and etymology.
The special issue In Memoriam Iulia Mărgărit aims to bring together
original studies focusing primarily on onomastics, toponymy and
dialectal lexicology from synchronic, diachronic, dialectological and
interdisciplinary perspectives.
Contributions may address, but are not limited to:
– the formation, structure and evolution of proper names;
– toponymy, toponymic stratification and microtoponymy;
– relationships between names, space, memory and identity;
– Romanian dialectal vocabulary, diatopic variation and lexical areas;
– processes of lexical preservation, innovation and circulation;
– language contact and dialectal etymology;
– research based on linguistic atlases, fieldwork, dialect archives,
dictionaries, digital corpora and other relevant documentary sources.
Original articles should be submitted by 1 September 2026 to
manuela.nevaci at unibuc.ro. All manuscripts will undergo the journal’s
established double-blind peer-review procedure.
