Location: Ciudad Juarez, Mexico
As a result of a joint organization between universities and the
public sector, the Primera Escuela de Glotopolítica in Mexico: Voces
en tránsito is presented, conceived as a summer school and open to the
general public. The program brings together a diverse range of
thinkers who reflect on the intersection between language and politics
from translation, cultural studies, sociolinguistics, activism, among
other fields.
The venue, Ciudad Juárez, is no coincidence: the School highlights it
as a hub that organizes political struggles around language in this
territory, opening the discussion to understand how borders are, above
all, effervescent hubs of political imagination.
The school will take place from September 29 to October 2, with two
daily sessions: in the morning, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, four courses
led by language specialists will be offered; in the afternoon, from
4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, panel discussions will be held with speakers from
translation, activism, and cultural creation.
The School will be held at the Centro Cultural Paso del Norte: Anillo
Envolvente del Pronaf, Zona Pronaf Condominio La Plata, 32315 Juárez,
Chih.
The event is free of charge.
Here is the program information translated into English, taken out of
the table and simplified into plain text. I kept the session titles
and speaker names in their original Spanish, as requested.
