Grammar teaching has gained renewed centrality in
linguistic-educational research over the last decade. This interest is
reflected in the consolidation of scientific forums specifically
devoted to this topic—such as the four previous editions of CONGRAM
(Valencia 2014, 2016 and 2023; Barcelona 2019) and the seminars
promoted by ARLE’s SIG-EduLing—as well as in the proliferation of
studies and publications addressing grammar from theoretical,
pedagogical, and applied perspectives.
The motto of this edition, Grammar in Focus – The Focus on Grammar,
invites a critical examination of the multiple roles grammar plays in
language teaching and learning. On the one hand, it positions grammar
as an object of study and as a tool for understanding linguistic
processes. On the other, it underscores the importance of approaches
that foster meta- and interlinguistic reflection, understood as a key
component in the development of language awareness and the improvement
of effective language use.
The conference invites researchers to submit contributions that
explore the processes of teaching and learning grammar in diverse
educational contexts—formal, non-formal, and multimodal—across all
levels of schooling and in both first and additional languages.
Particular attention will be given to contributions that articulate
theory and practice, explore innovative methodologies, or provide
empirical evidence on the role of grammar in the construction of
linguistic knowledge.
