Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

We are extremely pleased and proud to announce the JohanFest: a
symposium in honour of our colleague and friend Johan Rooryck on the
occasion of his 65th birthday. Johan is well known for both his
achievements in (Romance) linguistics, his widely publicized
resignation from Elsevier as the editor of Lingua and subsequent
foundation of the Open Access journal Glossa. and his strong advocacy
for Open Access. With this symposium we hope to do justice to the full
breadth of Johan’s work.
The symposium will take place on June 30, 2026 from 9:30–17:15 CEST
and will have a hybrid format with a Zoom livestream as well as in
person participation. In person participants are welcomed at CRISSP,
the KU Leuven Center for Research in Syntax, Semantics, and Phonology,
at Stormstraat 2, 1000 Brussels (room 6303). The event is followed by
a reception and dinner. You can find more information at the web page
of the event: https://www.crissp.be/events/johanfest/
Participation is free, but we ask you to register at this link:
