GESDA – the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator – is an
independent non-profit foundation which aims to anticipate
cutting-edge scientific and technological advances, bring them to the
attention of global decision-makers, and catalyse concrete action to
ensure that future advances benefit humanity as a whole. GESDA is part
of the UN-Secretary General’s Scientific Advisory Board, and holds an
annual global Anticipation Summit bringing together leading thinkers
across science and research, diplomacy, policy and more.
Every year, GESDA seeks to map out the Anticipation Potential of key
research fields via a survey distributed globally to experts like you.
The metric aims to measure a) the significance of possible future
scientific and technological advances in a given field, and b) the
potential for impactful action today – meaning the capacity for actors
(from researchers to policymakers and global decision-makers) to shape
the development of these advances and maximise their benefit to
people, society, and the planet.
As a leading expert in the field of linguistics, have your say by
completing this brief survey, which should take less than 10 minutes
of your time. If you have completed the survey in the past, please
feel free to do so again! The results will feature on our website as
well as in the next edition of the GESDA Science Breakthrough Radar,
which will be released at this year’s GESDA Anticipation Summit on
14-16 October 2026.
