The first volume (2026) of Bekos – Learning and Teaching Ancient
Languages (https://journals.uio.no/Bekos/index) is forthcoming and we
are now issuing a call for its second volume, to be published in 2027.
We welcome contributions on all aspects of the practice and theory of
learning and teaching ancient languages, with a special attention to
school and university context.
Potential topics include (but are not limited to):
 - language learning approaches, methods and techniques
 - application of insights and theory from Second/Third Language
Acquisition
 - empirical studies of current methods and practices
 - outlines of teaching practices in individual countries
 - textbooks and digital tools
 - history of the teaching and learning of ancient languages
The main aim of the journal is to bring into contact different
learning and teaching methods, specific to national traditions,
teaching contexts and language specificity, and to stimulate
methodological debates and foster a fruitful exchange of theoretical
insights and best practices.
Bekos welcomes articles in English, French, German, Italian and
Spanish (submissions in other languages may be considered, but authors
should contact the editors in advance to discuss the possibility).
Submissions should be uploaded by 20 September 2026 through the
journal’s platform: https://journals.uio.no/Bekos/about/submissions
