Subject: Availability of Reduced Independent Clauses
The objective of this survey is to learn about the potential
availability of reduced independent clauses in the languages of the
world. (More information on our project can be found here:
https://nytud.hu/en/tender/grammaticality-grammar-and-the-minimal-clause-new-cross-linguistic-evidence-from-colloquial-registers).
Reduced independent clauses are structurally deficient (they lack
features and structure that independent clauses are normally supposed
to have) and yet, they are interpreted as independent
(non-subordinated, root) clauses. Their use is often limited to the
most colloquial spoken (and/or electronic written) registers and
because of this, official grammars often overlook them.
Our survey takes around 3 to 12 minutes. Click here to start
(https://forms.gle/CpGWWbjH3ZwFQae3A) and let's find out if one of
your languages has reduced independent clauses!
If it happens to be the case that following our guidelines in this
short survey, you cannot recall anything that seems relevant in your
language, please still fill out the survey (unless your language is
Hungarian, English or Italian, for which we already have data). We
really appreciate your help, including the negative data you may
provide us, which can help us, among other things, to establish robust
typological generalizations about this phenomenon.
If you consider giving data about several languages (which would be
great!), please fill out this form for every language separately
(these may be your mother tongue and/or other languages of your
expertise).
We are also very open to a potential cooperation to explore this
phenomenon together if you are interested.

Your help is much appreciated!
