Am 10. und 11. September 2026 findet der Workshop „Sprache und
Kolonialismus / Language and Colonialism“ am Leibniz-Institut für
Deutsche Sprache (IDS) in Mannheim statt.
Die Ziele des Workshops sind, die bereits erfolgte Forschung zu
kolonialer und postkolonialer Linguistik mit einem Schwerpunkt auf
deutsch(sprachig)em Kolonialismus zu würdigen, bestehende
Forschungslücken identifizieren und die Möglichkeit für neue Impulse
eröffnen. Der Workshop soll auch Raum bieten, um über den Bedarf und
die Möglichkeit einer (partiellen) Neuausrichtung zu diskutieren, z.
B. in Richtung (historische) Soziolinguistik, Kreolistik oder
Dokumentationslinguistik.
Wir freuen uns auf Einreichungen für Vorträge (20+10) und darauf, Sie
und Euch im September am IDS begrüßen zu dürfen. Der vollständige CfP

We are delighted to announce the forthcoming workshop on the subject
“Sprache und Kolonialismus / Language and colonialism”. The event will
be held at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language (Mannheim,
Germany) on 10-11 September 2026. The aim of this workshop is to
acknowledge the achievements of Colonial and Postcolonial Linguistics
with a special focus on, but not limited to German colonialism; to
identify existing gaps; and to explore the need for and potential of a
reorientation of the field towards sociolinguistics, historical
sociolinguistics, creole studies and documentation linguistics.
We look forward to receiving submissions for talks (20+10) and to see
