Description:
The Program in Linguistics at Duke University invites applications for
a Visiting Assistant Professor position in Linguistics for the
Academic Year 2026-2027 starting July 1, 2026 and ending June 30,
2027, with the possibility of renewal for another year. We seek a
candidate with expertise in general linguistics and with clear
engagement with other fields, particularly computational linguistics
and its subfields and /or language development. The teaching load is
four undergraduate courses (2 courses each semester).
Interested candidates should submit the following:
 - Cover letter (with contact information)
 - Curriculum vitae
 - Two-page research statement
 - Syllabi of two or three courses that the candidate taught
previously
 - Two-page teaching statement that describes the applicant’s teaching
approach and previous teaching experiences
 - Copies of teaching evaluations
 - Names and contact information of three referees
Applicants for this position must hold a Ph.D. degree in Linguistics
or a closely related field. All application materials should be
uploaded to the Academic Jobs Online portal.
Review of completed applications will begin on March 16, 2026 and
continue until April 6, 2026, or when the position is filled.
