The International Linguistic Society is delighted to invite you to
participate in the International Conference on Phonetics and AI in
Language Education, Phonetics 2026 Hong Kong, to be held from 3rd to
5th June 2026 in Hong Kong. The primary aim of the conference is to
advance key areas of contemporary developments in phonetics and the
rapidly evolving applications of AI in language education.
The Phonetics 2026 Hong Kong conference envisions a vibrant platform
for collaboration and dialogue among established researchers, research
groups, and emerging scholars in an integrated context. This unique
gathering aims to foster an enriching environment of knowledge
exchange, collaboration, and inspiration.
Keynote lectures will be delivered by distinguished scholars from
various fields of phonetics and AI, presenting new perspectives and
expanding the horizons of research and pedagogical applications:
- Jette Hansen Edwards , The Chinese University of Hong Kong
- Carlos Gussenhoven, Radboud University
Conference Scope:
Phonetics 2026 Hong Kong will embrace diverse and pioneering work in
phonetics, including, but not limited to:
- Phonetic Areas: Theoretical phonetics, experimental phonetics,
application phonetics
- Core Phonetics: Speech physiology, speech acoustics, speech
perception
- Interdisciplinary Phonetics: psycho-phonetics, neuro-phonetics,
socio-phonetics, computational phonetics
- Application Phonetics: Phonetic education, phonetic disorders,
phonetic technology
Featured Areas:
This phonetics 2026 Hong Kong conference will feature technological
aspects with particular reference to AI applications to language
learning and language education in general:
- Phonetics and AI in EFL and L2 Education
- Phonetic acquisition across the lifespan: speech development from
childhood to ageing
- AI-powered pronunciation and oral training tools: innovations for
spoken language skills
- Speech technology and accessibility: supporting learners with
specific needs
- Phonetic research methodologies in the digital age: modern
approaches to speech data analysis
- Spoken corpus development and speech recognition: corpora for
research and AI applications
- Integrating AI and Phonetics in inclusive, data-informed pedagogy
in language education
Objectives:
The main objectives extend beyond current phonetic research and
application and encompass smart technologies and the integration of AI
and phonetics in user-friendly education systems:
- Advance phonetic research and applications in interdisciplinary
contexts
- Promote AI and phonetic research in language education
- Develop inclusive approaches to pronunciation and oral training
tools
- Encourage cross-disciplinary dialogue between linguistics,
educators, and computer scientists
- Provide a platform for sharing innovative research, methodologies,
and technology developments
- Hybrid participation options
Phonetics 2026 Hong Kong will be a hybrid conference, offering both
in-person and virtual presentation and attendance options. In addition
to keynote lectures, the programme will include a limited number of
oral presentations and a variety of poster presentations. Virtual
participants will have remote access and participate in online
sessions.
Accepted abstracts will be published as expanded 4-page conference
papers in the Linguistic Proceedings Series.
Abstract Submission:
We warmly invite researchers and research groups engaged in any area
of phonetics and related applications to submit one-page abstracts for
consideration at the Phonetics 2026 Hong Kong conference.
