Submission Deadline: 15-Jun-2026
The 29th Hispanic Linguistics Symposium will be held at the University
of Colorado Boulder on November 7-9, 2026. Our interdisciplinary
theme, Connections in and beyond Hispanic Linguistics for sustainable
futures, aims to forge bridges between Hispanic Linguistics and other
academic fields (e.g., Linguistics, Education, Anthropology, Cognitive
Science, Communication), and beyond academia to connect research with
curriculum development, community engagement, and language policies.
Such dialogue will sustain not just the field of Hispanic Linguistics,
but also language programs and departments, Spanish in the United
States, and minority language communities more broadly.
We welcome submissions from all theoretical and methodological
perspectives on data from Spanish and neighboring languages (other
languages of the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula). We are pleased
to offer the following presentation formats: oral presentations,
thematic panels, and poster presentations.
1. Oral Presentations. These are single- or co-authored 20-minute
research contributions in any field of Hispanic Linguistics, followed
by a 10-minute question-and-answer period.
2. Thematic panels. These are 90-minute sessions, consisting of
presentations organized around a common research topic, approach or
area. Each thematic panel will have an organizer who will also chair
the panel. The panel organizer will determine the number of
presenters, the length of each presentation and the format or
structure of the session.
3. Poster Presentations. These are single- or co-authored research
contributions in any field of Hispanic Linguistics. There will be a
one-hour-long poster session during which presenters will have ample
opportunity to discuss their work with conference attendees.
