PhD position in English linguistics, 60%
Start: 1 August 2026
As of August 1, 2026, the Department of Languages and Literatures of
the University of Basel (English division, Prof. Miriam Locher) is
seeking to fill a 60% PhD position in English linguistics. The
position is intended for further academic qualification and is limited
in duration (1+3 years).
Your tasks:
-       Further academic qualification (PhD thesis and coursework)
-       Two hours of teaching per week in English and/or general
linguistics
-       Administrative and co-teaching tasks
-       Student advising and supervision of written work in matters
related to English linguistics
Your profile:
-       excellent, linguistically oriented degree (MA) in the field of
English linguistics
-       Independence, initiative, ability to work in a team,
commitment to the general interests of the linguistics team
-       Willingness to be present in Basel for at least two full days
