Subject: Call for Book Chapters: Rethinking Language and Cognition: Contemporary Approaches

We invite theoretical, conceptual, and empirical chapter abstracts for
an edited volume proposed for the Routledge series on Language and
Cognition. The volume aims to rethink the relationship between
language and cognition through contemporary interdisciplinary
perspectives. It seeks to bring together research that explores how
linguistic structures, cognitive processes, and social contexts
interact in shaping human language and thought.
The volume emphasizes emerging perspectives that integrate insights
from applied linguistics, cognitive science, psycholinguistics, and
neurolinguistics. It encourages contributions that examine how
language and cognition intersect across different theoretical
frameworks, methodological approaches, and sociocultural contexts.
Important Deadlines:
- Abstract Submission (Extended Date): 21 March 2026
- Acceptance Notification (Abstract): 28 March 2026
- Full Chapter Submission: 02 May 2026
- Acceptance Notification (Full Chapter): 31 May 2026
- Revised Submission: 15 June 2026
- Expected Publication: End of 2026
Scope of the Book
This volume explores contemporary perspectives on the relationship
between language and cognition, bringing together interdisciplinary
research that addresses theoretical, empirical, and methodological
developments in the field. The book examines how linguistic meaning,
conceptualization, and cognitive processes interact in language use,
learning, and variation. It also considers how language is shaped by
embodied experience, social interaction, and cultural contexts.
The volume aims to provide a platform for innovative scholarship that
bridges theoretical insights with empirical research, highlighting
emerging directions in the study of language and cognition.
Topics of Interest
Contributions may address, but are not limited to, the following
themes:
- Embodied Minds: Sensorimotor foundations of language and thought
- Conceptual Architecture: Categorization, meaning, and mental
representation
- Situated and Distributed Cognition: Language in social and cultural
contexts
- Neural and Computational Perspectives: Modeling language and
cognition
- Development, Variation, and Change: Cognitive dynamics across time
and communities
