Description:

The Institute of Psychology at the University of Tartu (UT), Estonia,
offers three state-funded PhD positions each year. The position is an
open competition among eligible applicants with different research
topics. To get the position, applicants are highly recommended to
contact a potential supervisor beforehand to prepare the application
together. The application period for students who receive an MA degree
outside Estonia will be May 1–15, 2026.
The Psychology of Language Research Group at UT, led by Dr. Siqi Lyu,
welcomes contacts from interested applicants. Our research group has a
broad interest in language research from an interdisciplinary
perspective. The main lines of research in our group include (1)
auditory perception, (2) language and social psychology, and (3)
sentence and discourse processing. We also welcome research topics
that combine language and clinical psychology. Details about our

The successful candidate will enter a 4-year fixed-term employment
contract with the University of Tartu as a junior research fellow
starting on September 1, 2026. The minimum gross salary is 2100
EUR/month.

(siqi.lyu at ut.ee) by April 25, 2026, to receive full support for this
application round. Since the doctoral dissertation at UT is
paper-based (usually consisting of three published journal articles),
the proposal should clearly outline three planned studies and relevant
research outputs. Applicants with a track record of publications will
be preferred.
