Minimum Education Level: MA in Linguistics
Special Qualifications: Post-doctoral, PhD and master's students in
Linguistics or other scientific areas. Researchers in general,
particularly in the areas of cognitive science. Preference is given to
PhD, Master and Post-doctoral students in Linguistics.

Focus: Cognitive and Functional Linguistics
Description:
The Centre for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies from the Faculty
of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic
University organizes Braga Summer School in Linguistics, within the
scope of the Doctoral Program in Linguistics. The event will offer
advanced training in several areas of linguistic studies, especially
from the perspective of Cognitive and Functional Linguistics in their
most recent developments and in an interdisciplinary dialogue with
other cognitive sciences.
The Summer School will consist of four different seminar courses
taught in English, in person.
Course 1: Language variation and change from the perspective of the
Entrenchment-and-Conventionalization Model - Hans-Jörg Schmid (Ludwig
Maximilian University of Munich)
Course 2: The nativization of language varieties in global contexts -
Hans-Georg Wolf (University of Potsdam)
Course 3: Irony as Intersubjectivity - Dirk Geeraerts (University of
Leuven)
Course 4: Discourse, communication and creativity - Laura
Hidalgo-Downing (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid)
Tuition: 150€
Tuition Explanation: General public/non-UCP students: 150€
