Registration for CoLang 2026 is open now through May 15, 2026!
The University of Nevada, Reno is excited to host the Institute on
Collaborative Language Research (CoLang). CoLang is an international
institute that provides a cutting-edge training program for students,
teachers, linguists, community language activists and other language
workers engaged in language documentation, revitalization, and
reclamation. A two-week workshop session will be held June 22-Jul 2,
2026 featuring workshops on technology, language pedagogy, community
language development and basic and advanced language documentation
techniques with a focus on language revitalization and reclamation. An
additional week of practica for workshop attendees will be held July
6-10 featuring work on the three languages indigenous to Northern
Nevada: Wašiw (Washoe), Numu (Northern Paiute) and Newe (Western
Shoshone). The purpose of the practica is to apply the linguistic,
ethical, practical and technical skills gained in the workshops in a
guided apprenticeship. More information on the workshops and practica
can be found on our website.
Registration for the two weeks of workshops (June 22-July3) is:

Indigenous participant registration fee: $1000
Registration for the workshops and the practica sessions (June 22-July
