Description:
The University of Kassel, Faculty of Humanities and Cultural Studies,
Institute of English and American Studies, invites applications for a
part-time Research Associate / PhD position in the field of Research
on Foreign Language Teaching and Learning: English Language Education
under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tanja Angelovska.
The position is 50% / 20 hours per week, paid according to EG 13 TV-H,
and initially limited to three years, with the possibility of
extension for another two years. The position is linked to the
completion of a doctoral dissertation.
The doctoral project should focus on one of the following areas:
- task-based reading
- reading-while-listening
- listening in Visual World Paradigms
- attention processes in foreign language learning and teaching
A strong willingness to work with eye-tracking methodology is
expected.
The position includes research, teaching in English language
education, participation in empirical data collection in school and
laboratory settings, contribution to publications and research
projects, support in the organization of academic events, and
involvement in academic self-governance. The teaching load is 2 SWS
(semester weekly hours, = 90 min).
Applicants must hold a completed university degree with a clear
profile in English teacher education / English language education,
preferably a Master of Education in English or an equivalent
teacher-education-related degree.
Very good academic English is required. Good German language skills
are expected, as the position involves teaching-related,
administrative, and institutional tasks within a German university
context.
Since the position is to be filled as soon as possible, applicants
should be able to take up the position without significant delay.
International applicants should therefore already have the necessary
residence and work authorization for Germany. Candidates who would
require a long visa process may not be suitable for the immediate
starting timeline.
