Call for Papers:
The Department of English Philology at the University of Zielona Góra
is pleased to announce a scientific conference celebrating the 20th
anniversary of English philology at the University of Zielona Góra.
The conference "Contemporary Perspectives on Language and Literatures
in English" aims to bring together young and established scholars
giving them a venue for reexamining the focus, content, boundaries and
interconnections between disciplines within the broad area of English
Studies. Participants are encouraged to submit their presentations on
contemporary forms, methods and approaches within the English Studies.
Possible topics may include but are not limited to:
Section: English Language
 - Interdisciplinary approaches to the English language:
neurolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, ethnolinguistics,
sociolinguistic varieties: dialects, sociolects, etc.
 - English language from a contrastive perspective: phonology,
morphology, syntax, phraseology
 - Recent developments in EFL teaching methodology: digital pedagogy
in language teaching, language learning apps, etc.
 - AI in language analysis and translation
 - Language, identity, and power dynamics in discourse analysis
 - Translation theory and practice: translation in global
communication, machine-assisted translation studies
 - Teaching translation and interpreting
 - Linguistic and language preservation, psycholinguistics and
cognitive studies
Section: Literatures in English
 - Literary representations of contemporary phenomena and issues:
migrations, globalization, alterity, climate crisis, sustainability,
vulnerability, ecological ethics, human – non-human interactions, AI,
etc.
 - Contemporary perspectives on well-established themes, motifs,
genres, conventions, writers, and canonical literary works
 - Rereadings, reworkings, revisions, reimaginings, adaptations
 - Media, film, and audiovisual research in relation to literature,
transmedia storytelling, intermedial practices, and the remediation of
literary texts in contemporary visual and digital cultures
 - Contemporary approaches in literary studies (posthumanism, animal
studies, ecocriticism, medical humanities, disability studies, trauma
studies, food studies, care ethics, transnationalism, diaspora
studies, intermediality, intersectionality, digital humanities, etc.)
 - Teaching literature in the digital age
Submissions:
Abstracts (ca. 250 words) of proposals for 20-minute presentations
should be sent to: 26conferenceuz at gmail.com. Please, specify the
conference section (English Language, Literatures in English) in the
Subject field of your message. Provide affiliation details, email
address, and a brief biographical note.
The deadline for abstract submission is 15 June 2026
Notification of acceptance: 10 July 2026
Language of the conference: English
Conference Fee:
The conference fee is 550 zlotys (PLN). This will include conference
materials, proceedings volume publication, coffee break(s), lunches
(according to the program). Deadline for registration and payment of
the conference fee: 30 September 2026. The account number will be
announced in the registration form on the conference website.
Social Program:
 - Conference dinner (included in the conference fee)
 - A walk through the wine cellars of Zielona Góra
Conference Venue:
University of Zielona Góra, Campus B, al. Wojska Polskiego 69-71A.
Sessions will take place in the University Library (al. Wojska
Polskiego 71)
Accommodation:
The conference organizers do not provide any accommodation. The
conference fee does not cover accommodation.
Publication of Papers:
A post-conference volume of revised and extended articles is planned
to be published. This will be a selection of accepted, peer-reviewed
papers.
