Abstract:

The growing number of the researchers have realized the necessity of
the paradigm change in many fields in humanities from the theory-based
towards more practice-oriented interdisciplinary studies. For example,
mathematics and later cybernetics have made a great contribution to
the development of new applied fields in linguistics such as
Computational Linguistics and Corpus Linguistics. Quantitative methods
and tools have become a dominating reality in humanities. In this
connection, many researchers and students in humanities and social
sciences would be definitely interested in applied discourse studies.
In the recent decades, discourse has become one of the top overarching
themes in humanities and social sciences that reflect its
interdisciplinary nature.  The researchers in linguistics, literary
theory, philosophy, semiotics, psychology, sociology and political
sciences try to address various aspects of this very complex
phenomenon. Meantime the studies in text and discourse have mostly
focused on the theoretical aspects reflecting major breakthroughs in
the field, whereas the applied aspects of discourse studies have not
been properly addressed so far. In this connection, there is a strong
need in a comprehensive study of these applied aspects, which can
