Conference Description:
The Olomouc Linguistics Colloquium (OLINCO) is a biennial general
linguistics conference held at Palacký University Olomouc, Czech
Republic. It covers synchronic or diachronic aspects of grammar,
phonology, semantics, and pragmatics, among other areas. Papers may
also address language description, language acquisition, performance,
translation, or language deficits.
Call for Papers:
The general topic of the conference is language use and linguistic
structure. We welcome contributions that put forward well-motivated
proposals concerning linguistic structure and relate these structures
to some aspect of language use, such as information structure,
phonetics, or meaning. In addition to the main session, the conference
features three specialized thematic sessions.
Invited Speakers:
 - Štefan Beňuš (Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra,
SK): Capturing Intonational Behaviour: From Autism to Human–Robot
Interaction
 - Laura Janda (UiT The Arctic University of Norway): The Statistical
Interface of Grammar and Semantics in the Domain of Emotions
 - Michelle Sheehan (Newcastle University, UK): Semantic flavours of
complementation: the picture from Romance causatives
Thematic Sessions:
Apart from the main session, the conference will also feature three
thematic sessions:
 - Phonetics and phonology across the lifespan: Variation, learning
and interaction | Convenors: Šárka Šimáčková (Palacký University
Olomouc), Václav Jonáš Podlipský (Palacký University Olomouc), and
Štefan Beňuš (Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra)

Michaela Martinková (Palacký University Olomouc) and Laura Janda (UiT
The Arctic University of Norway)
Abstract Submission:
We invite submissions for full oral presentations and short
presentations (posters). Abstracts should address either the general
conference topic (i.e. any area of linguistics, provided that the
contribution explores the relationship between linguistic structure
and language use) or one of the topics of the three thematic sessions.
Abstract submission deadline: 31 January 2027
