Please note there are two deadlines.
Pseudolaw is a form of legal-seeming argumentation that borrows the
form but not the substance of legitimate legal discourse. Once
primarily practiced by fringe conspiracy groups such as the “Sovereign
Citizen” or “Freemen on the Land” movements, pseudolaw has more
recently started to move towards the mainstream, and pseudolegal
discourse can now be observed across social media and even in the
speech of some elected officials. This special issue of the
International Journal for the Semiotics of Law, organized by
International Pseudolaw Research Network, is intended to explore the
scope and nature of contemporary pseudolegal practice. Contributors
are invited to explore themes including the historic evolution of
pseudolaw, the relationship between the semiotics of law and
pseudolaw, variation in contemporary pseudolaw, and beyond.
Special Issue Guest Editors:
-Dr. David Griffin, University of Leeds
-Dr. Kate Leader, Queen Mary, University of London
-Dr. Joe McIntyre, Adelaide University
