Join us for the 9th Second-Language Learning and Disabilities
Conference, an online event dedicated to promoting inclusion and
diversity in world language education.
This year's conference invites educators, researchers, and
practitioners to explore how we can create learning environments that
recognize learner variability, challenge ableism and other forms of
exclusion, and support meaningful participation for all students.
We welcome proposals that share innovative pedagogical approaches,
research findings, practical resources, and experiences from the
classroom. Whether you are developing a new initiative, reflecting on
an existing practice, or conducting research, we encourage you to
contribute to this collaborative conversation.
Suggested topics include:
- Designing accessible and inclusive language learning materials.
- Developing anti-oppressive curricula and addressing ableism in
language education.
- Supporting neurodivergent students and learners with disabilities.
- Exploring intersections of race, disability, identity, and language
learning.
- Applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in language
classrooms.
- Building cross-disciplinary collaborations to advance accessibility
and inclusion.
Session Formats:
- Interactive Workshops (30 minutes): Hands-on sessions with
opportunities for participant engagement.
- Pedagogical Presentations (20 minutes): Practical presentations
focused on sharing innovative teaching strategies, classroom
activities, or resources.
- Research Presentations (20 minutes): Presentations showcasing
research findings or theoretical insights.
- Panels (45 minutes): Coordinated sessions with 3–4 speakers
exploring complementary topics.
Audience: This conference welcomes language educators, researchers,
instructional designers, administrators, and advocates committed to
equity and inclusion in education.
Submission Guidelines: Proposal Content: Include a title, a
250–300-word abstract describing the session's focus, objectives, and
