Hybrid. The session will be held in person, but papers may also be
presented remotely.
This panel explores innovative uses of translation as a pedagogical
practice across disciplines. It invites theoretical, critical, and
practice-based work on teaching strategies that use translation to
foster interpretation, rhetorical awareness, and creative engagement
with texts across languages, genres, media, and cultural contexts.
Papers may address comparative work with multiple translations,
assignments that involve translating across genres, media, or cultural
contexts, or classroom strategies that foreground questions of
audience, voice, and meaning-making. Contributions are also welcome
that consider how digital tools, including machine translation and AI,
are reshaping these practices and introducing new possibilities and
challenges for teaching.
