Reading with NARNiHS
reading group of the North American Research Network in Historical
Sociolinguistics
https://narnihs.org/?page_id=3288
Join our online reading group to discuss hot-off-the-press
publications in historical sociolinguistics with the authors!
The sixth session of "Reading with NARNiHS" is taking place on
Thursday, 12 November 2026, at 11:00 am US Eastern time / 5:00 pm
European Central time and features **David Britain** discussing
colonial (as well as pre- and post-colonial) language contact from a
macro-sociolinguistic perspective, on the example of the history of
English in Micronesia.
Reading with NARNiHS is a vibrant venue for engagement with
cutting-edge work in historical sociolinguistics, accessible to
researchers at all levels. Reading with NARNiHS combines aspects of
"meet the author" + "author interview" + "authors read their works" +
"classic reading group discussion" as we interact together with new
scholarship and its authors.
Anna Havinga will be our moderator, and there will be plenty of time
for your questions. So, please come along for an enriching one-hour
exchange about the most current topics in historical sociolinguistics!
To receive the Zoom link and the article we're going to discuss on 12
November, please sign up via the following form by Monday, 09 November
2026 (it takes less than a minute):
