We’re delighted to announce that registration is open for "Telling the
Truth: authorship, audiences and authenticity across discourse, texts
and narratives", a two-day online conference hosted by The Open
University, 5th-6th November 2026.
The conference reflects on the role played by “telling the truth” in
literary works and non-literary discourses across historical
periods, languages and cultures, with the aim of bringing a wide range
of perspectives to bear on a concept of enduring importance and
throwing new light on present-day tensions.
The conference features three plenary panel discussions:
Authorship: Andrew Bennet, Edmund King, Karina van-Dalen-Oskam
Audiences: Dawn King, Stuart Johnstone, Lara Frumkin
Authenticity: Maxine Ali, Siobhan Campbell, Matti Kangaskoski, Trask
Roberts
There will also be one public engagement event on Thursday evening:
Translation, truth, and textual afterlives: an evening of translation:
Bianca Maria Alecu, Matthew Reynolds and Helen
Zaltzman in conversation with Daria Chernysheva (18:30-20:00, Thursday
5th November)
