The 35th edition of the Conference of the Student Organization of
Linguistics in Europe (ConSOLE) will be held 27-29 January 2027 at the
University of the Basque Country (EHU) in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.
ConSOLE is an annual conference for graduate (Master, PhD) and
advanced undergraduate (Bachelor) students of Linguistics. It aims to
provide students worldwide with the opportunity to present their
research to an international audience. More information about SOLE

We invite abstract submissions for both oral presentations (20-minute
talk plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion) and poster
presentations. We welcome abstracts from a broad field of linguistic
subfields (e.g., phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics,
pragmatics, language acquisition, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics)
and methodologies (e.g., computational, experimental, fieldwork,
theoretical).
The theme of this year's ConSOLE is "Grammar at the interface". We aim
to bring together diverse opinions and approaches to linguistic
research that look at the interactions between different areas of
language. This includes well-known interfaces between different
subfields of linguistics, such as the syntax-semantics or the
phonetics-phonology interfaces, but may also be understood as
interfaces between domains, modalities, or disciplines as well.
Studying a topic from more than one perspective, synthesizing methods
from different fields, or observing interactions between separate but
connected phenomena in many cases allows for deeper insights into the
object of study, especially given the complexity and multifaceted
nature of language. Interfaces can also be rich testing grounds for
linguistic theories. For instance, phonological processes that have
been seen to be sensitive to syntactic structure may leave clues as to
the nature of syntactic spell-out operations. Studies of multilingual
populations often reveal features of not only the language but also of
the social structures in which speakers find themselves.
Some questions inspiring this debate might be: Which phenomena involve
an interplay between different modules of language? Which model of the
relation between different modules can account better for these
phenomena? Are there parallelisms between the structures of two
components of language which converge at an interface? Or are
intermediate rules necessary to move from one system to another? What
is the psychological reality that lies behind interfaces among
modules? Are there neural correlates?
This year's edition will also include a pre-conference workshop (27
January) covering the topic of early acquisition of language,
regarding oral and manual modalities within typical or neurodivergent
development. The study of acquisition provides an empirical grounding
to theoretical analyses of grammatical phenomena by testing whether
they are compatible with the observed stages of development and
productions of children acquiring language. In addition, these studies
give light as to the psychological mechanisms that guide both
acquisition and processing of language. The invited speaker for this
session will be Arrate Isasi-Isasmendi (IKER, UMR5478-CNRS & UPPA),
who is currently in charge of a research project focusing on the
acquisition of different aspects of the grammar of Basque in bilingual
contexts. In this spirit, for the workshop, we invite contributions
dealing with the development of any of the modules of grammar during
the early stages of acquisition of one or more first languages, with a
particular attention to development in bilingual or multimodal
contexts. As in the main session, we invite submissions for both oral
and poster presentations.
We welcome submissions that relate to these topics from any
theoretical perspective and from any area of linguistics.

Submission Instructions:
- Only original research that has not been published or accepted for
publication at the time of submission can be presented.
- The language for the abstracts and presentations should be English.
- One author may submit at most one abstract as sole author and one
abstract as co-author (or two co-authored abstracts). Authors should
specify whether they would like to be considered for oral or poster
presentation (or for both).
- Abstracts must be submitted in PDF format. The files must be
anonymous and not reveal the identity of the author(s) in any form (be
sure to remove metadata from the file).
- Abstracts are limited to a maximum of 2 A4 pages (including
references, examples, tables, appendices, etc.) and must have 1.5 cm
margins on all sides, with a font no smaller than 12pt set in Times
New Roman (or a similar font).
- Abstracts not complying with these guidelines may be excluded from
the reviewing process.

As in past editions, accepted authors (both oral and poster
presentations) will have the opportunity to submit to the proceedings
