Abstract:

This book is a pioneering work, which meticulously presents the
instantiation of various pragmatic universals within the Romanian
languaculture and complements existing research on Romanian language
structure. The authors explore topics such as the pragmatics-grammar
interface, speech acts, im/politeness, discourse genres, humor,
emotions, and cyber discourse, arriving at insightful generalizations
that compile a cluster of pragmatic features of Romanian in use. The
volume integrates and supplements previous analyses, filling a
critical gap in the literature. Beyond its academic significance, The
Pragmatics of Romanian offers valuable information for cross-cultural
and intercultural approaches to language and communication in a
globalized society.
