L'équipe basée à Paris a la double mission de faire avancer la Recherche
sur les problèmes spécifiques à la langue française, et de calculer et
optimiser les modèles acoustiques et linguistiques du français dans tous
les domaines de technologie du langage (reco, synthèse,
compréhension...)

Au sein de ce département, vos missions sont les suivantes :

Ingénieur-chercheur en modélisation acoustique de la parole

Vous êtes responsable du calcul de modèles statistiques du français pour
le traitement de la parole, au niveau acoustique.  Fort d'une première
expérience dans un domaine identique ou connexe (laboratoire de
recherche, université), vous avez des compétences en  mathématiques
appliquées, statistiques, modélisation probabiliste et programmation.La
maîtrise de l'anglais et la connaissance des  plateformes UNIX, Windows,
des languages C/C++, ksh et Tcl/Tk sont requises.

Two full-time Technical Engineer/Scientist positions at ELDA.


The European Language resources Distribution Agency (ELDA), a
company specialized in Human Language Technologies within an
international context, acting as the distribution agency of the
European Language Resources Association (ELRA),
is currently seeking to fill two immediate vacancies for
Technical Engineer/Scientist positions.

ELRA was established in February 1995, with the support of the
European Commission, to promote the development and exploitation
of Language Resources (LRs). Language Resources include all data
necessary for language engineering, such as monolingual and
multilingual lexica, text corpora, speech databases and terminology.
The role of this non-profit membership Association is to promote the
production of LRs, to collect and to validate them and, foremost,
make them available to users. The association also gathers
information on market needs and trends.

Under the supervision of the CEO, the responsibilities of the
Technical Engineers/Scientists include market studies, reports,
and development in the field of Language Engineering. Tasks will be
technical in nature as well as investigating economic and market
needs.  This yields excellent opportunities for young, creative, and
motivated candidates wishing to participate actively in establishing/
building the European Union Language Engineering field.

The ideal candidate would have:
* Experience in the field of language engineering/ computational
   linguistics/ speech processing or a related field;
* Experience in developing market studies and writing technical
   reports in the field of information technologies or Human Language
   Technologies;
* Knowledge of /Experience in integrating and implementing language
   resources in new applications;
* Experience with technology transfer projects, industrial projects,
    collaborative projects within the European Commission or other
    international frameworks;
* Experience /motivations in establishing and supervising external
   contracts;
* Citizenship of (or residency papers) a European Union country;
* The ability to work in at least two European languages (English
   being essential).

Both positions are based in Paris.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Computational Linguist

Simpli.com (http://www.simpli.com) has developed a technology to enhance
Internet search and targeted content based on ideas derived from
cognitive science and linguistics.   The founders of the company are
largely drawn from the Brown University Department of Cognitive and
Linguistic Sciences and the Department of Computer Science. We are
seeking a computational linguist, or computer scientist/software
engineer with a strong background in linguistics.

Education:
* Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science or Linguistics with a focus on
  Natural Language Processing

Requirements:
* Minimum two years of experience in developing applications for
  corpus-based natural language processing, information retrieval, or
  other related products
* Working knowledge of Perl, C/C++, or Java
* In-depth knowledge of areas such as text analysis and processing,
  data-mining, information extraction (e.g., automatic indexing of large
  text corpora), knowledge-based techniques (e.g., the use of ontologies and
  lexicons), or neural networks for unsupervised learning

Preferred:
* Familiarity with Internet Search
* Management and/or leadership experience
* Knowledge of and experience with existing NLP tools
* Significant work experience
