la 7eme conference Extraction et Gestion des Connaissances (EGC'2007,
Namur, Belgique, du 23 au 26 janvier 2007). Nous vous rappelons que

Following the great success of the previous edition, we are glad to
invite you to attend the second Formal Ontologies Meet Industry
Workshop (FOMI 2006).

Description
===========

FOMI aims to become an international forum where researchers in
different disciplines and practitioners of various industry sectors
meet to analyze and discuss issues related to methods, theories,
tools and applications based on formal ontologies.

It is nowadays widely understood that the semantic dimension and
model driven approaches play an important role not only in research
fields but also in networked economy. In particular, it has emerged
that semantic based applications are relevant in distributed systems
such as networked organizations, organizational networks, and in
distributed knowledge management. Namely, these knowledge models in
industry aim at providing a framework for information and knowledge
sharing, reliable information exchange, meaning negotiation and
coordination between distinct organizations or among members of the
same worldwide organization.

The business world also considers this issue of strategic relevance
and keeps paying particular attention to it because many theoretical
results have already been proved effectiveness in real applications
like data warehouse construction, information infrastructure
definition, and all processes and applications of knowledge
management.

With the application of new methodologies and techniques in the
everyday practice and the accessibility of new theoretical results
in this area, developing new tools based on more sophisticated
frameworks has become a common need. This is an important reason for
the increasing interest in the employment of formal ontologies in
fields like medicine, engineering, financial and legal systems, and
other business practices. In all these fields, a new emerging trend
is to evaluate the interdependencies between theories and methods of
formal ontology and the activities, processes, and needs of
enterprise organizations.

A typical example of this is the evaluation of the benefits that huge
organizations can obtain by implementing ontology based systems.

Objectives
==========

The workshop is a forum to meet and discuss problems, solutions,
perspectives and research directions for researchers and
practitioners. We welcome papers or project descriptions that aim at
applying formal ontologies in industry. In particular,

   - theoretical studies on formal ontologies committed to provide
sound bases for industrial applications and to allow formal
representation of corporate knowledge;

   - business experiences on case studies that single out concrete
problems and possible solutions; the experience analysis should
provide useful insights on social and strategic aspects that might
be relevant in the creation and deployment of formal ontologies as
well as useful criteria or methods to evaluate ontologies and their
effectiveness in applications.

Submission and Proceedings
==========================

We invite submissions of papers in any of the topics of interest to
the workshop.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as PDF files via e-mail 
to the following address:

Paper maximal length is 10 pages, excluding title page and
bibliography. Instructions about format can be found at
http://www.loa-cnr.it/fomi

Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and selected on the basis of
technical quality, relevance of the described experiences (depending
on the type of submission), and clarity of the presentation for the
workshop. In particular, we insist that papers should be written for
a wide audience. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop,
and published as proceedings.

Accepted papers will be electronically published on CD and
distributed to participants. Following FOMI 2005, a selection of the
best papers accepted at the workshop will be considered for
publication in the international journal ''Applied Ontology''.

Palmarès des sites latins dédiés à la communication spécialisée

Résultats du concours Meliores pour distinguer les meilleurs sites
latins sur la terminologie et les outils linguistiques

Le portail Terminometro a organisé cette année un palmarès des
meilleurs sites ou portails dédiés aux outils linguistiques et à la
terminologie des pays latins.

83 sites rassemblant des ressources relatives aux technologies de la
langue, à la terminologie, à la traduction spécialisée et à la
création de dictionnaires et autres outils linguistiques ont
finalement été retenus pour y participer, parmi plusieurs dizaines de
sites candidats. Ils devaient respecter des critères de contenu, de
latinité, de forme (ergonomie, clarté, organisation, etc.),
d'accessibilité et de gratuité.

Un Jury prestigieux, composé de spécialistes des disciplines
susmentionnées et des six langues latines officielles de l'Union
Latine, a sélectionné les meilleurs sites et dressé le Palmarès.

Les sites lauréats figurent sur la page
http://www.terminometro.info/meliores/ du portail Terminometro,
accompagnés de leur lien respectif et des raisons pour lesquelles ils
ont été élus meilleurs sites latins consacrés aux technologies de la
langue.

À partir de septembre prochain, les internautes seront également
invités à y participer en votant en ligne pour les sites sélectionnés,
de manière à établir un classement du public.

Le Laboratoire CRISCO (Centre de Recherches Inter-langues sur la
Signification en Contexte), FRE 2805 du CNRS, organise à l'Université

Autour de la préposition

(position, valeurs, statut et catégories apparentées à travers les langues)



L'objectif de ce colloque est de réunir des chercheurs qui travaillent
sur la catégorie prépositionnelle tant dans une optique diachronique
que synchronique ou contrastive et dans quelque langue que ce
soit. Les aspects psycholinguistiques et le traitement automatique des
langues pourront également être pris en compte.



Langue des communications : français ou anglais



Durée des communications : 25 minutes + 10 minutes (discussion)



Propositions de communication :



Les propositions de communication, en français ou en anglais,
comporteront le titre de la communication et un résumé de 3200 signes
environ, espaces compris (1 page A4 interligne simple maximum). Le
résumé devra exposer clairement la problématique, préciser les outils
d'analyse ainsi que, éventuellement, le cadre théorique de
référence. Elles seront évaluées de façon anonyme par un comité
scientifique. Elles seront envoyées par voie électronique à l'adresse
ci-dessous. Le message qui accompagne le résumé comportera les
coordonnées complètes de l'auteur ainsi que le titre du résumé joint

Two Postdoctoral Research Positions in NLP (NCLT, Dublin, Ireland)

The National Centre for Language Technology (NCLT) and the School of
Computing at Dublin City University, Ireland, invite applications for
two Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded Postdoctoral research
positions in probabilistic, transfer-based machine translation and
probabilistic generation using treebank-based LFG resources (Cahill et
al. 2004, O'Donovan et al. 2005, Cahill and van Genabith 2006):

* PD1: Treebank-Based Acquisition of Wide-Coverage Probabilistic
Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG) Resources and Machine Translation (2
years: 2006-2008)

* PD2: Probabilistic Generation Using Treebank-Based, Wide-Coverage,
Probabilistic Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG) Resources (1 year:
2006-2007)

The starting dates for the positions are early September (PD1) and
late September (PD2), 2006. The salary is euro 39,500 (approx)
p.a. The positions are available to both EU- and non-EU-applicants.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in Computational
Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning or Computer
Science. Knowledge of constraint-based grammar formalisms such as LFG,
HPSG, CCG, TAG, PATR-II and statistical NLP is a strong
asset. Programming experience and a keen interest in problem solving
and research are essential.

The successful applicants will work in a large NLP team of 20+
Ph.D. students and 6 Postdoctoral researchers at the National Centre
for Language Technology (NCLT) in the School of Computing at Dublin
City University.

Cadre du stage

Le laboratoire LIP6 <http://www.lip6.fr/> de l'université Pierre et
Marie Curie (Paris 6), situé à Paris, est l'un des plus grands
laboratoire de recherche en informatique de France. Au sein du
département de recherche DESIR (DÉcision, Systèmes Intelligents et
Recherche opérationnelle), l'équipe Systèmes Multi-Agents (SMA)
s'intéresse, entre autres, à l'étude de l'interaction entre des agents
(informatiques ou humains) hétérogènes.

L'équipe SMA est impliquée dans un projet RIAM financé par l'ANVAR qui
porte à la fois sur la modélisation des émotions et de la personnalité
pour des personnages non-joueurs (PNJ) dans les jeux vidéos et sur la
prise en compte de ces modèles dans les dialogues et les interactions
entre Personnages Joueurs et Non Joueurs (PJ-PNJ). Ce projet est une
collaboration entre deux équipes universitaires et deux entreprises du
domaine du jeux vidéo.  L'objectif général du projet est de fournir
aux concepteurs de jeux d'aventure les techniques et un outil qui
permettent de mettre en scène des PNJ munis d'émotions et d'une
personnalité propre et capables de prendre en compte l'évolution du
scénario lors de leurs dialogues avec le joueur humain.

Le projet DEEP a commencé au printemps 2006.

- Durée du stage : 12 mois (éventuellement prolongeables) à partir de
septembre 2006.

 Résumé du sujet

La prise en compte de la personnalité, de l'expérience et des émotions
au sein des Agents Artificiels est un domaine relativement nouveau
pour l'Intelligence Artificielle mais qui suscite un intérêt croissant
ces dernières années. En informatique, les communautés « emotional
computing » (citons par exemple les travaux sur le robot Kismet dans
l'équipe de Rodney Brooks au MIT [Breazeal, 2001]) et « embodied
conversational agents » (Cassel, 2001) sont celles qui développent
actuellement des recherches autour de cette nouvelle problématique.

Ces travaux conduisent à la définition de nouveaux modèles de
représentation des connaissances qui intègrent ces dimensions
(expérience, émotions, personnalité) [Mehrabian, A. (1996), Egges
et. Al.] et permettent de les prendre en compte dans la gestion de
l'interaction et du dialogue entre utilisateur humain (joueur) et
agent intelligent (PNJ).

Dans les systèmes actuels de conception de jeux, les dialogues et les
interactions des PNJ sont le plus souvent prédéfinis en fonction du
développement du scénario et ne tiennent pas compte de l'historique du
joueur, notamment la relation qu'il développe avec les autres
personnages.  Dans des contextes de mondes ouverts, notamment avec une
volonté de narration générée dynamiquement, l'ambition est de
développer des « Acteurs Synthétiques » capables de réagir de manière
cohérente et pertinente par rapport au contexte scénaristique, de
faire donc preuve « d'intelligence ».

La génération automatique de dialogues à partir de connaissances est
une problématique très étudiée par les chercheurs travaillant sur
l'interaction entre un humain et un agent (en particulier en langue
naturelle) ou entre deux agents (en langage formel). Elle s'appuie sur
l'utilisation de modèles récents de représentation des connaissances,
fondés sur des outils comme les graphes conceptuels. Cependant, la
représentation dans ces modèles des informations liées aux émotions et
à la personnalité, et l'utilisation des buts et de l'historique
restent limitées.  Objectifs du stage post-doctoral

Le premier objectif du stage est d'étudier les différents cadres
théoriques issus de l'intelligence artificielle et des sciences
sognitives pour la modélisation des émotions, de la personnalité et de
l'expérience, et de réfléchir à leur possible utilisation dans la
modélisation des PNJ (travail bibliographique). Au delà de la
recherche directe de modèles, il sera nécessaire d'identifier et de
prendre en compte les contraintes propres au contenu narratif des jeux
d'aventure et à la problématique de la génération de dialogues en
fonction du contexte du jeu video (contraintes liées aux modes
d'interaction, facilité d'utilisation par des concepteurs de jeux,
etc.)

Le second objectif du stage est de proposer un modèle adapté pour les
PNJ dans les jeux vidéo d'aventure permettant la génération de
dialogues et d'implanter un prototype de modèle adapté. Le modèle
devra être validé à l'aide d'un certain nombre d'expériences sur des
cas concrêts d'interaction PJ-PNJ. Le stagiaire devra proposer un
protocole d'évaluation et le mettre en oeuvre sur un scénario simple.

 Compétences requises:
- doctorat en IA (ou Sciences Cognitives)
- Compétences en programmation
- Thématiques scientifiques privilégiées : CHM, TAL, KR, Affective
  computing

Following the great success of the previous edition, we are glad to
invite you to attend the second Formal Ontologies Meet Industry
Workshop (FOMI 2006).

Description
===========

FOMI aims to become an international forum where researchers in
different disciplines and practitioners of various industry sectors
meet to analyze and discuss issues related to methods, theories, tools
and applications based on formal ontologies.

It is nowadays widely understood that the semantic dimension and model
driven approaches play an important role not only in research fields
but also in networked economy. In particular, it has emerged that
semantic based applications are relevant in distributed systems such
as networked organizations, organizational networks, and in
distributed knowledge management. Namely, these knowledge models in
industry aim at providing a framework for information and knowledge
sharing, reliable information exchange, meaning negotiation and
coordination between distinct organizations or among members of the
same worldwide organization.

The business world also considers this issue of strategic relevance
and keeps paying particular attention to it because many theoretical
results have already been proved effectiveness in real applications
like data warehouse construction, information infrastructure
definition, and all processes and applications of knowledge
management.

With the application of new methodologies and techniques in the
everyday practice and the accessibility of new theoretical results in
this area, developing new tools based on more sophisticated frameworks
has become a common need. This is an important reason for the
increasing interest in the employment of formal ontologies in fields
like medicine, engineering, financial and legal systems, and other
business practices. In all these fields, a new emerging trend is to
evaluate the interdependencies between theories and methods of formal
ontology and the activities, processes, and needs of enterprise
organizations.

A typical example of this is the evaluation of the benefits that huge
organizations can obtain by implementing ontology based systems.

Objectives
==========

The workshop is a forum to meet and discuss problems, solutions,
perspectives and research directions for researchers and
practitioners. We welcome papers or project descriptions that aim at
applying formal ontologies in industry. In particular,

   - theoretical studies on formal ontologies committed to provide
sound bases for industrial applications and to allow formal
representation of corporate knowledge;

   - business experiences on case studies that single out concrete
problems and possible solutions; the experience analysis should
provide useful insights on social and strategic aspects that might be
relevant in the creation and deployment of formal ontologies as well
as useful criteria or methods to evaluate ontologies and their
effectiveness in applications.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as PDF files via e-mail

Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and selected on the basis of
technical quality, relevance of the described experiences (depending

workshop. In particular, we insist that papers should be written for a

published as proceedings.

Accepted papers will be electronically published on CD and distributed
to participants. Following FOMI 2005, a selection of the best papers

AIMS:

LATA 2007 intends to become a major yearly conference in theoretical

SUBMISSIONS:

Authors are invited to submit papers presenting original and
unpublished research. Papers should not exceed 12 pages and should be
formatted according to the usual LNCS article style. One .pdf or
postscript file containing the submission is what the organizers
expect to receive at carlos.martin at urv.cat (with 'LATA 2007
submission' at the subject box).

PUBLICATION:

A volume of pre-proceedings will be available by the time of the
conference. It is expected that a refereed volume of selected
proceedings will be published soon after it in the LNCS Springer
series.

REGISTRATION:

The period for registration will be since January 9 to March 29,
2007. Details about how to register will be provided through the
website of the conference.

Early registration fees: 200 euros

FUNDING:

40 grants covering partial-board accommodation in the university
hostel will be available for nonlocal PhD students. To apply, the

Ce projet vise à appliquer des méthodes de l'Analyse Formelle des
Concepts et de fouille de données pour la détection de signaux en
pharmacovigilance. En effet, des organismes de pharmacovigilance
construisent des bases de données répertoriant des cas, déclarés par
des médecins, d'effets indésirables liés à la prise de médicaments. Un
"signal", qui pourrait aussi s'appeler indicateur, est un message
d'alerte généré lorsqu'un certain nombre de conditions sont réunies
pour supposer qu'un produit soit à l'origine d'effets indésirables non
encore connus.  Les méthodes de génération de signal actuelles
reposent sur des approches numériques et statistiques. Nous souhaitons
appliquer l'extraction de règles d'association et la construction de
classifications par treillis de Galois à ce type de données pour
définir une méthode de génération de signal.

Ce travail s'inscrit dans le projet EI-Xplore qui implique 5
laboratoires français en médecine et en informatique. Le stage, d'une
durée de 9 à 12 mois, se déroulera au sein de l'équipe Orpailleur au
LORIA, INRIA (Nancy, France) et débutera en septembre ou octobre
2006. La rémunération est de 1840 euros net par mois.

Pour candidater :
- être titulaire d'une thèse en informatique sur l'analyse formelle de
concepts, maîtriser les méthodes d'extraction de règles d'association
et de construction de treillis

      Formal Concept Analysis and Association Rules
             applied to Adverse Drug Effects

This project aims at defining a methodology to detect adverse drug
effects through databases or texts. In fact, there exist databases
where doctors record adverse effects due to drug absorption. The
problem is to generate an alert as soon as there are enough "reliable"
conditions saying that one or more drugs are responsable for these
adverse effects. Current tools use numerical and statistic
approaches. We want to apply association rule extraction and lattice
based classification to this problem.

This work is part of the EI-Xplore project involving 5 french research
teams. The Post-doc position is available for 9 to 12 months starting
september or october 2006. It takes place in LORIA - INRIA
(Nancy, France). The salary is 1840 euros per month.

La revue TAL (Traitement Automatique des Langues) est une revue
internationale éditée depuis 1960 par l'ATALA (Association pour le
Traitement Automatique des Langues) avec le concours du CNRS.  Elle va
maintenant être publiée sous format électronique, avec impression à la
demande. Cela ne change aucunement son processus de relecture et de
sélection.

LANGUE

Les articles sont écrits en français ou en anglais. Les soumissions en
anglais ne sont acceptées que pour les auteurs non francophones.

la 7eme conference Extraction et Gestion des Connaissances (EGC'2007,
Namur, Belgique, du 23 au 26 janvier 2007). Nous vous rappelons que

Following the great success of the previous edition, we are glad to
invite you to attend the second Formal Ontologies Meet Industry
Workshop (FOMI 2006).

Description
===========

FOMI aims to become an international forum where researchers in
different disciplines and practitioners of various industry sectors
meet to analyze and discuss issues related to methods, theories,
tools and applications based on formal ontologies.

It is nowadays widely understood that the semantic dimension and
model driven approaches play an important role not only in research
fields but also in networked economy. In particular, it has emerged
that semantic based applications are relevant in distributed systems
such as networked organizations, organizational networks, and in
distributed knowledge management. Namely, these knowledge models in
industry aim at providing a framework for information and knowledge
sharing, reliable information exchange, meaning negotiation and
coordination between distinct organizations or among members of the
same worldwide organization.

The business world also considers this issue of strategic relevance
and keeps paying particular attention to it because many theoretical
results have already been proved effectiveness in real applications
like data warehouse construction, information infrastructure
definition, and all processes and applications of knowledge
management.

With the application of new methodologies and techniques in the
everyday practice and the accessibility of new theoretical results
in this area, developing new tools based on more sophisticated
frameworks has become a common need. This is an important reason for
the increasing interest in the employment of formal ontologies in
fields like medicine, engineering, financial and legal systems, and
other business practices. In all these fields, a new emerging trend
is to evaluate the interdependencies between theories and methods of
formal ontology and the activities, processes, and needs of
enterprise organizations.

A typical example of this is the evaluation of the benefits that huge
organizations can obtain by implementing ontology based systems.

Objectives
==========

The workshop is a forum to meet and discuss problems, solutions,
perspectives and research directions for researchers and
practitioners. We welcome papers or project descriptions that aim at
applying formal ontologies in industry. In particular,

   - theoretical studies on formal ontologies committed to provide
sound bases for industrial applications and to allow formal
representation of corporate knowledge;

   - business experiences on case studies that single out concrete
problems and possible solutions; the experience analysis should
provide useful insights on social and strategic aspects that might
be relevant in the creation and deployment of formal ontologies as
well as useful criteria or methods to evaluate ontologies and their
effectiveness in applications.

Submission and Proceedings
==========================

We invite submissions of papers in any of the topics of interest to
the workshop.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as PDF files via e-mail 
to the following address:

Paper maximal length is 10 pages, excluding title page and
bibliography. Instructions about format can be found at
http://www.loa-cnr.it/fomi

Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and selected on the basis of
technical quality, relevance of the described experiences (depending
on the type of submission), and clarity of the presentation for the
workshop. In particular, we insist that papers should be written for
a wide audience. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop,
and published as proceedings.

Accepted papers will be electronically published on CD and
distributed to participants. Following FOMI 2005, a selection of the
best papers accepted at the workshop will be considered for
publication in the international journal ''Applied Ontology''.

two Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded Postdoctoral research
positions in probabilistic, transfer-based machine translation and
probabilistic generation using treebank-based LFG resources (Cahill et
al. 2004, O'Donovan et al. 2005, Cahill and van Genabith 2006):

* PD1: Treebank-Based Acquisition of Wide-Coverage Probabilistic
Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG) Resources and Machine Translation (2
years: 2006-2008)

* PD2: Probabilistic Generation Using Treebank-Based, Wide-Coverage,
Probabilistic Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG) Resources (1 year:
2006-2007)

The starting dates for the positions are early September (PD1) and
late September (PD2), 2006. The salary is euro 39,500 (approx)
p.a. The positions are available to both EU- and non-EU-applicants.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in Computational
Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning or Computer
Science. Knowledge of constraint-based grammar formalisms such as LFG,
HPSG, CCG, TAG, PATR-II and statistical NLP is a strong
asset. Programming experience and a keen interest in problem solving
and research are essential.

The successful applicants will work in a large NLP team of 20+
Ph.D. students and 6 Postdoctoral researchers at the National Centre
for Language Technology (NCLT) in the School of Computing at Dublin
City University.

Le laboratoire LIP6 <http://www.lip6.fr/> de l'universit? Pierre et
Marie Curie (Paris 6), situ? ? Paris, est l'un des plus grands
laboratoire de recherche en informatique de France. Au sein du
d?partement de recherche DESIR (D?cision, Syst?mes Intelligents et
Recherche op?rationnelle), l'?quipe Syst?mes Multi-Agents (SMA)
s'int?resse, entre autres, ? l'?tude de l'interaction entre des agents
(informatiques ou humains) h?t?rog?nes.

L'?quipe SMA est impliqu?e dans un projet RIAM financ? par l'ANVAR qui
porte ? la fois sur la mod?lisation des ?motions et de la personnalit?
pour des personnages non-joueurs (PNJ) dans les jeux vid?os et sur la
prise en compte de ces mod?les dans les dialogues et les interactions
entre Personnages Joueurs et Non Joueurs (PJ-PNJ). Ce projet est une
collaboration entre deux ?quipes universitaires et deux entreprises du
domaine du jeux vid?o.  L'objectif g?n?ral du projet est de fournir
aux concepteurs de jeux d'aventure les techniques et un outil qui
permettent de mettre en sc?ne des PNJ munis d'?motions et d'une
personnalit? propre et capables de prendre en compte l'?volution du
sc?nario lors de leurs dialogues avec le joueur humain.

Le projet DEEP a commenc? au printemps 2006.

La prise en compte de la personnalit?, de l'exp?rience et des ?motions
au sein des Agents Artificiels est un domaine relativement nouveau
pour l'Intelligence Artificielle mais qui suscite un int?r?t croissant
ces derni?res ann?es. En informatique, les communaut?s ? emotional
computing ? (citons par exemple les travaux sur le robot Kismet dans
l'?quipe de Rodney Brooks au MIT [Breazeal, 2001]) et ? embodied
conversational agents ? (Cassel, 2001) sont celles qui d?veloppent
actuellement des recherches autour de cette nouvelle probl?matique.

Ces travaux conduisent ? la d?finition de nouveaux mod?les de
repr?sentation des connaissances qui int?grent ces dimensions
(exp?rience, ?motions, personnalit?) [Mehrabian, A. (1996), Egges
et. Al.] et permettent de les prendre en compte dans la gestion de
l'interaction et du dialogue entre utilisateur humain (joueur) et
agent intelligent (PNJ).

Dans les syst?mes actuels de conception de jeux, les dialogues et les
interactions des PNJ sont le plus souvent pr?d?finis en fonction du
d?veloppement du sc?nario et ne tiennent pas compte de l'historique du
joueur, notamment la relation qu'il d?veloppe avec les autres
personnages.  Dans des contextes de mondes ouverts, notamment avec une
volont? de narration g?n?r?e dynamiquement, l'ambition est de
d?velopper des ? Acteurs Synth?tiques ? capables de r?agir de mani?re
coh?rente et pertinente par rapport au contexte sc?naristique, de
faire donc preuve ? d'intelligence ?.

La g?n?ration automatique de dialogues ? partir de connaissances est
une probl?matique tr?s ?tudi?e par les chercheurs travaillant sur
l'interaction entre un humain et un agent (en particulier en langue
naturelle) ou entre deux agents (en langage formel). Elle s'appuie sur
l'utilisation de mod?les r?cents de repr?sentation des connaissances,
fond?s sur des outils comme les graphes conceptuels. Cependant, la
repr?sentation dans ces mod?les des informations li?es aux ?motions et
? la personnalit?, et l'utilisation des buts et de l'historique
restent limit?es.  Objectifs du stage post-doctoral

Le premier objectif du stage est d'?tudier les diff?rents cadres
th?oriques issus de l'intelligence artificielle et des sciences
sognitives pour la mod?lisation des ?motions, de la personnalit? et de
l'exp?rience, et de r?fl?chir ? leur possible utilisation dans la
mod?lisation des PNJ (travail bibliographique). Au del? de la
recherche directe de mod?les, il sera n?cessaire d'identifier et de
prendre en compte les contraintes propres au contenu narratif des jeux
d'aventure et ? la probl?matique de la g?n?ration de dialogues en
fonction du contexte du jeu video (contraintes li?es aux modes
d'interaction, facilit? d'utilisation par des concepteurs de jeux,
etc.)

Le second objectif du stage est de proposer un mod?le adapt? pour les
PNJ dans les jeux vid?o d'aventure permettant la g?n?ration de
dialogues et d'implanter un prototype de mod?le adapt?. Le mod?le
devra ?tre valid? ? l'aide d'un certain nombre d'exp?riences sur des
cas concr?ts d'interaction PJ-PNJ. Le stagiaire devra proposer un
protocole d'?valuation et le mettre en oeuvre sur un sc?nario simple.

- Comp?tences en programmation
- Th?matiques scientifiques privil?gi?es : CHM, TAL, KR, Affective
  computing

Following the great success of the previous edition, we are glad to
invite you to attend the second Formal Ontologies Meet Industry
Workshop (FOMI 2006).

Description
===========

FOMI aims to become an international forum where researchers in
different disciplines and practitioners of various industry sectors
meet to analyze and discuss issues related to methods, theories, tools
and applications based on formal ontologies.

It is nowadays widely understood that the semantic dimension and model
driven approaches play an important role not only in research fields
but also in networked economy. In particular, it has emerged that
semantic based applications are relevant in distributed systems such
as networked organizations, organizational networks, and in
distributed knowledge management. Namely, these knowledge models in
industry aim at providing a framework for information and knowledge
sharing, reliable information exchange, meaning negotiation and
coordination between distinct organizations or among members of the
same worldwide organization.

The business world also considers this issue of strategic relevance
and keeps paying particular attention to it because many theoretical
results have already been proved effectiveness in real applications
like data warehouse construction, information infrastructure
definition, and all processes and applications of knowledge
management.

With the application of new methodologies and techniques in the
everyday practice and the accessibility of new theoretical results in
this area, developing new tools based on more sophisticated frameworks
has become a common need. This is an important reason for the
increasing interest in the employment of formal ontologies in fields
like medicine, engineering, financial and legal systems, and other
business practices. In all these fields, a new emerging trend is to
evaluate the interdependencies between theories and methods of formal
ontology and the activities, processes, and needs of enterprise
organizations.

A typical example of this is the evaluation of the benefits that huge
organizations can obtain by implementing ontology based systems.

Objectives
==========

The workshop is a forum to meet and discuss problems, solutions,
perspectives and research directions for researchers and
practitioners. We welcome papers or project descriptions that aim at
applying formal ontologies in industry. In particular,

   - theoretical studies on formal ontologies committed to provide
sound bases for industrial applications and to allow formal
representation of corporate knowledge;

   - business experiences on case studies that single out concrete
problems and possible solutions; the experience analysis should
provide useful insights on social and strategic aspects that might be
relevant in the creation and deployment of formal ontologies as well
as useful criteria or methods to evaluate ontologies and their
effectiveness in applications.

Submission and Proceedings

We invite submissions of papers in any of the topics of interest to
the workshop.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically as PDF files via e-mail

Paper maximal length is 10 pages, excluding title page and
bibliography. Instructions about format can be found at

Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and selected on the basis of
technical quality, relevance of the described experiences (depending
on the type of submission), and clarity of the presentation for the
workshop. In particular, we insist that papers should be written for a
wide audience. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop, and
published as proceedings.

Accepted papers will be electronically published on CD and distributed
to participants. Following FOMI 2005, a selection of the best papers
accepted at the workshop will be considered for publication in the
international journal ''Applied Ontology''.

AIMS:

LATA 2007 intends to become a major yearly conference in theoretical
computer science and its applications. As linked to the International
PhD School in Formal Languages and Applications that is being
developed at the host institute since 2001, it will reserve

SUBMISSIONS:

Authors are invited to submit papers presenting original and
unpublished research. Papers should not exceed 12 pages and should be
formatted according to the usual LNCS article style. One .pdf or
postscript file containing the submission is what the organizers
expect to receive at carlos.martin at urv.cat (with 'LATA 2007
submission' at the subject box).

PUBLICATION:

A volume of pre-proceedings will be available by the time of the
conference. It is expected that a refereed volume of selected
proceedings will be published soon after it in the LNCS Springer
series.

REGISTRATION:

The period for registration will be since January 9 to March 29,
2007. Details about how to register will be provided through the
website of the conference.

Early registration fees: 200 euros
Early registration fees (PhD students): 50 euros
Registration fees: 300 euros
Registration fees (PhD students): 75 euros

FUNDING:

40 grants covering partial-board accommodation in the university
hostel will be available for nonlocal PhD students. To apply, the
candidate must e-mail her/his CV together with a copy of the document
proving her/his condition as a PhD student.

Ce projet vise ? appliquer des m?thodes de l'Analyse Formelle des
Concepts et de fouille de donn?es pour la d?tection de signaux en
pharmacovigilance. En effet, des organismes de pharmacovigilance
construisent des bases de donn?es r?pertoriant des cas, d?clar?s par
des m?decins, d'effets ind?sirables li?s ? la prise de m?dicaments. Un
"signal", qui pourrait aussi s'appeler indicateur, est un message
d'alerte g?n?r? lorsqu'un certain nombre de conditions sont r?unies
pour supposer qu'un produit soit ? l'origine d'effets ind?sirables non
encore connus.  Les m?thodes de g?n?ration de signal actuelles
reposent sur des approches num?riques et statistiques. Nous souhaitons
appliquer l'extraction de r?gles d'association et la construction de
classifications par treillis de Galois ? ce type de donn?es pour
d?finir une m?thode de g?n?ration de signal.

Ce travail s'inscrit dans le projet EI-Xplore qui implique 5
laboratoires fran?ais en m?decine et en informatique. Le stage, d'une
dur?e de 9 ? 12 mois, se d?roulera au sein de l'?quipe Orpailleur au
LORIA, INRIA (Nancy, France) et d?butera en septembre ou octobre
2006. La r?mun?ration est de 1840 euros net par mois.

                  Post-doc position on
      Formal Concept Analysis and Association Rules
             applied to Adverse Drug Effects

This project aims at defining a methodology to detect adverse drug
effects through databases or texts. In fact, there exist databases
where doctors record adverse effects due to drug absorption. The
problem is to generate an alert as soon as there are enough "reliable"
conditions saying that one or more drugs are responsable for these
adverse effects. Current tools use numerical and statistic
approaches. We want to apply association rule extraction and lattice
based classification to this problem.

This work is part of the EI-Xplore project involving 5 french research
teams. The Post-doc position is available for 9 to 12 months starting
september or october 2006. It takes place in LORIA - INRIA
(Nancy, France). The salary is 1840 euros per month.

Traitement Automatique des Langues) avec le concours du CNRS.  Elle va

demande. Cela ne change aucunement son processus de relecture et de
