L'Université catholique de Louvain (UCL, Belgique) recherche

pour le Centre de traitement automatique du langage (CENTAL) à
Louvain-la-Neuve , un (m/f)

Informaticien-Linguiste
à temps plein pour une durée indéterminée

Le CENTAL est un centre de recherche rattaché à la Faculté de
philosophie et lettres et spécialisé dans l'étude du traitement
informatique des langues. Le CENTAL est actif à la fois dans le
domaine de la recherche et de l'enseignement.  Il collabore également
aux projets de plusieurs centres de recherche de l'UCL auxquels il
apporte son expertise en matière de traitement informatique des
données textuelles. Il est par ailleurs impliqué dans de nombreux
projets de recherche au niveau national et international.

Fonction :

- prendre en charge le développement informatique spécialisé du centre
  et assurer un rôle de coordination, chef de projets (60%) ;

- assurer la veille technologique orientée en TAL (technologies,
  méthodes, logiciels, ressources) et fournir des conseils au Cental
  et aux collaborateurs UCL (10%) ;

- gérer les ressources linguistiques du Cental et les valoriser, les
  augmenter (15%) ;

- contribuer à l'installation, configuration, maintenance des
  infrastructures informatiques et identifier les besoins prospectifs
  (15%).

Qualifications et aptitudes requises :

- Licence/maîtrise en informatique avec des compétences approfondies
  en linguistique (Diplôme complémentaire ou expérience pertinente) ou
  licence/maîtrise en linguistique ou philologie avec des compétences
  approfondies en informatique (Diplôme complémentaire ou expérience
  pertinente).

- Le candidat aura une expérience et/ou des connaissances dans le
  domaine du TAL et si possible en : algorithmique du texte ;
  programmation Web (client/ serveur et robots) ; bases de données.

- Le candidat aura des connaissances en :
* Programmation : Java / C / Prolog  / Perl, Php, Python.
* Bases de données : SQL Server / MySql.
* Systèmes : Windows & Linux.

- La maîtrise de plusieurs langues est un atout.

The Center for the Automatic Treatment of Language (CENTAL) in
Louvain-la-Neuve (University of Louvain, UCL) is seeking:

A Computational Linguist

for a full-time position of indeterminate length, starting September
2007.

 ======================================================================= 

The CENTAL is a research center associated with the College of
Philosophy and Letters and specializes in the computational treatment
of languages.  The center is active in both research and teaching.  It
also collaborates with several others research centers of the Catholic
University of Louvain on projects to which it brings its expertise on
matters concerning the computational treatment of texts.  The CENTAL
is involved with numerous research projects on a national and
international level as well.

Description of Position:

- Responsible for the development of the center with regards to
  specialized advances in computer science and assume a role of
  coordination of projects (60%);

- Be up to date with technological advancements in the area of
  Automatic Treatment of Language and provide advice to the CENTAL and
  to collaborators at the Catholic University of Louvain (10%);

- Manage the linguistic resources of the CENTAL while improving and
  increasing them (15%);

- Contribute to the installation, configuration, and maintenance of
  system infrastructures and identify prospective needs (15%).

Qualifications and skills necessary:

- Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science with in-depth knowledge of
  Linguistics (complementary degree or relevant experience) or
  Bachelor's/Master's in Linguistics or Philology with in-depth
  knowledge of Computer Science (complementary degree or relevant
  experience).

- The candidate should have experience or knowledge in the domain of
  Automatic Treatment of Language and if possible in: text algorithms;
  Web programming (client/server and crawlers); databases.

- Knowledge in:

Programming: Java / C / Prolog / Perl, Php, Python.
Databases: SQL Server / MySql.
Platforms: Windows & Linux.

A command of one or more foreign languages is a plus.
