RESEARCH FELLOW IN NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING (FULL-TIME)

Salary: GBP 18,511 - 26,985 p.a. depending on qualifications
Duration: up to 16 months

The Research Group in Computational Linguistics at the University of
Wolverhampton invites applications for a Research Fellow position to
work on a JISC-funded project titled "Automated Archiving for
Institutional Repositories". The aim of the project is to develop a
technology for automated population of an institutional
bibliographical database from the Web. The main role of the successful
candidate will be the research and development of a technology for
Information Extraction from semi-structured text.
 
Job requirements:
 
* A first degree in Computer Science or a closely related field
* Strong skills in software design/implementation 
* Background in Information Retrieval or Natural Language Processing
  (topics such as machine learning, information extraction, document
  classification and web crawling)
* Excellent written and spoken English skills
* Experience of working on industry-funded projects will be an
  advantage.
 
Main duties and responsibilities: 
 
* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant aspects of NLP and IR
* Develop and evaluate the Information Extraction and the web crawler
  components of the system
* System design and system integration
* Dissemination activities (project reports, conference publications,
participation in meetings with project partners)
