Problématique

Le chapitre français de l'ISKO a comme préoccupation majeure, depuis
sa création en 1996, la question de l'organisation des
connaissances. Cette thématique a été traitée sous l’angle des
structures d’organisation, des outils techniques de médiation mais
aussi des formes et mécanismes de partage des connaissances. Ces
questions sont au cœur des mécanismes de la production et de l’accès à
l’information, et de la circulation des savoirs.

Dans la continuité de ces réflexions, la 8ème édition du colloque
ISKO-France vise à sonder plus particulièrement les questions de
stabilité et de dynamisme dans les concepts et les paradigmes
sous-jacents aux travaux sur l’organisation des connaissances.

L’accès à l’information, et par son biais aux connaissances,
représente un enjeu social, politique, culturel et économique. Ceci
nous impose de porter un regard réflexif sur les théories, les
paradigmes et les concepts d’organisation, de circulation de
l’information et des connaissances.

Depuis quelques années, les potentialités techniques se sont
considérablement accrues. De nouvelles pratiques socio-techniques ont
vu le jour. Dix ans après le congrès ISKO international organisé par
la Faculty of Information Studies, Université de Toronto, autour de
cette même thématique, le chapitre français de l’ISKO, conscient de
l’importance et de l’actualité de cette question propose de la
revisiter. Cette édition de 2011 cherche notamment à sonder les
mutations subies par les modes et des structures d'organisation de
connaissances à l'aune des progrès technologiques portés par le Web,
notamment dans sa dimension sociale.

Inversement, on cherche à déterminer les modes et pratiques
d'organisation des connaissances qui ont résisté aux bouleversements
technologiques induits par le Web. Quelles sont les raisons de leur
pérennité ou stabilité ? Quel est l'impact des mutations sociétales
induites par la pénétration du Web dans toute la sphère de l'activité
scientifique et professionnelle sur les modes d’organisation des
connaissances ainsi que sur les modalités de production et de
circulation des savoirs et des connaissances? Quel est/sera l’impact
du Web sémantique et du Web dit socio-sémantique sur le champ de
l’organisation des connaissances? Quelles en sont/seront les
répercussions sur les modèles, les structures et les modes de
représentations de connaissances? Assistons-nous à une évolution ou à
une révolution? Une rupture ou une continuité?

Le 8e colloque ISKO-France invite des contributions sur ces
questions. La conférence sollicite des contributions originales sur
des questions théoriques liées à l'organisation des connaissances mais
également sur des applications, dans la mesure où ces dernières
discutent des fondements théoriques ou épistémologiques sous-jacents
aux méthodologies mises en œuvre. Plus précisément, nous sollicitons
des soumissions sur les thématiques suivantes:

1. Fondements historiques et épistémologiques de l’organisation des
   connaissances
- Paradigmes sous-jacents aux travaux sur l'organisation des
  connaissances
- Structures et relations dans l’organisation des connaissances
- Influence de la culture sur la conception d'instruments
  d’organisation des connaissances
- Evolution ou stabilité des paradigmes de l’organisation des
  connaissances dans des sociétés ou cultures différentes

2. Systèmes d’organisation des connaissances
- Evolution des langages contrôlés (langages de classification
  encyclopédiques ou spécialisés) à l'ère du web dit sémantique
- Systèmes et dispositifs d’organisation des connaissances et leur
  interopérabilité
- Organisation centralisée des connaissances face aux pratiques
  sociales et collaboratives du Web 2.0

3. Mutations induites dans les pratiques professionnelles
- Transformation des formes documentaires et matérialité documentaire
- Pratiques collaboratives de production documentaire
- Interopérabilité des outils de représentation des connaissances
- Métamorphoses de l’espace documentaire dans ses rapports au sens, à
  la forme et au temps
- Nouvelles formes éditoriales, nouveaux modes de représentation de
  circulation de l’information et des connaissances

4. Usages et usagers des dispositifs d'organisation des connaissances
- Pratiques des usagers des systèmes d'organisation des connaissances
- Usages des nouveaux outils et dispositifs de classification et de 
  catégorisation de l'information (folksonomies et folkontologies).

Calendrier
15 Janvier 2011 date limite de réception des propositions.
Les propositions (3 à 4 pages maximum, format Word, ou RTF) seront
transmises à l’adresse suivante : colloque.isko-France at univ-lille3.fr.
Les propositions en anglais seront acceptées.

La première page comportera:
- les coordonnées du contributeur (nom, prénom, fonction, institution
  de rattachement, adresse postale, téléphone, fax, mél)
- le titre de la contribution et quelques mots-clés

Les pages suivantes comporteront:
- le rappel du titre de la contribution
- le texte de la proposition de contribution (3 à 4 pages).

Chaque proposition sera examinée par au moins deux évaluateurs du
Comité scientifique, qui estimeront sa pertinence, sa validité
scientifique, son originalité et la clarté de sa présentation.

15 février 2011 date de notification d'acceptation ou de refus.
La notification d'acceptation sera envoyée, accompagnée des
spécifications techniques pour la publication. Celles-ci seront à
respecter impérativement en vue de la publication des actes. Des
demandes de modifications des textes pourront être formulées aux
auteurs.

21 mars 2011 date limite de réception des versions définitives.
Les auteurs retenus adresseront les communications sous forme d'un
texte complet de 10 pages maximum. Le texte de la communication devra
parvenir au comité de programme sous sa forme définitive.
30 mai 2011 date limite d'inscription au colloque pour au moins l'un
des auteurs. L'acceptation d'une communication implique que l'un, au
moins, des auteurs soit présent au colloque pour assurer sa
présentation.

Theme

Since its creation in 1996, the French chapter of ISKO has been
grappling with knowledge organization issues. This topic has been
dealt with from different angles: knowledge organization structures,
tools for mediation, forms and mechanisms for knowledge sharing. Given
that issues are at the center of information production and access as
well as knowledge dissemination, the 8th edition of the ISKO-France
conference aims to focus specifically on the issue of stability and
dynamism in the concepts and paradigms underlying knowledge
organization research.

Access to information and thereby to knowledge is an important social,
political, cultural and economic stake. This demands that we take a
reflexive look at the theories, paradigms and concepts underlying the
organization, the circulation of information and knowledge. The past
years have witnessed an increase in the potentials of information
technology. New socio-technical practices have emerged. Ten years
after the International ISKO conference organized by Faculty of
Information Studies at the University of Toronto on this very theme,
the French chapter of ISKO, convinced of the importance of this theme
proposes to revisit it. This 2011 edition aims in particular to
examine the mutations that modes and structures of knowledge
organization may have undergone in the face of technological advances
driven by the Web, especially by the Social Web.

Conversely, we also seek to ascertain which modes and structures have
resisted the technological upheaval induced by the Web. What are the
reasons for their stability or dynamism? What is the impact of the
societal mutations induced by the penetration of the Web in every
aspect of scientific and professional activity on modes of knowledge
organization and on modalities for the production and circulation of
knowledge? What is or will be the impact of the so-called “Semantic
Web” on knowledge organization research? What repercussions may we
expect on models, structures and knowledge representation modes? Are
we in the face of an evolution or a revolution, a break-off or
continuity?

The 8th Biennal Conference of the French ISKO Chapter seeks
contributions on these questions. Papers should report original work
not published elsewhere or under review elsewhere at the time of
submission. Submissions can report either theoretical work linked to
stability or dynamism of theories, concepts and paradigms in KO or
focus on applications but with an emphasis to highlight the
theoretical and epistemological underpinnings of the practical
work. More precisely, contributions can focus on one or more of these
topics :

Historical and epistemological foundations of knowledge organization
(KO)

- paradigms underlying research in KO
- structures and relations in KO
- role and influence of culture for the design of KO tools
- evolution and stability of KO paradigms in different societies or
  cultures
- Knowledge organization systems
- Evolution of controlled vocabularies (classification languages,
  thesauri,...) in the semantic web era
- interoperability of systems and devices for KO
- centralized systems for KO and the social collaborative practices of
  web 2.0

3. Mutations in professional practices
- transformation of documentary forms
- collaborative practices in documentation services
- interoperability of knowledge representation tools
- metamorphosis of the documentation space in its relation with sense
  making, with form and time
- New editorial forms, new representation modes for information and
  knowledge circulation

4. Uses and users of knowledge organization systems
- users practices of KO systems
- uses of new tools and devices for classification and categorization
  (folksonomies, folkontologies)

The timelines are as follows:
Call for papers: October 27 2010
Deadline for submission of papers: January 15 2011
Notification of acceptance or refusal: February 15 2011
Deadline for final version: March 15 2010

Submission Format

Potential authors are invited to submit a manuscript of three or four
pages, rtf format. As reviewing will be blind, authors are asked to
remove all texts that will enable reviewer to identify them. For
instance, instead of saying Smith (2008) showed that, replace that
reference by [SELF 2008] showed that. Accordingly, authors should
remove own references from the bibliography or indicate SELF in its
place.
The proposal (3 to 4 pages,) should be sent to the following address: 
colloque.isko-France at univ-lille3.fr before January 15th 2011.

The first page should contain: the author’s data (name, surname, post,
institution name; address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail); the
paper’s title and significant key-words

The next three or four pages should contain the title and the text of the 
proposal. :
Each proposal will be reviewed by at least two reviewers from the
Scientific Committee, who will evaluate its relevance, scientific
validity, originality and the proposal clarity.

15th of February 2011 Notification date of acceptance or refusal.

The acceptance notification will be sent with technical specifications
for publication. They must be necessarily respected regarding the
future proceedings publication.

21st of March 2011 The final paper submission deadline. The accepted
authors should send the completed paper (max. 10 pages) in its final
version.  The paper should be sent in electronic form (rtf format) to
the following address: colloque.isko-France at univ-lille3.fr
