MIE2011 – The 23rd International Conference of the European Federation
for Medical Informatics – will take place in Oslo August 28th to 31st.

For the first conference day, all are invited to Akershus University
Hospital – a completely new hospital building with ICT as its main
cornerstone. Fully paperless EPR, transport as well as laboratory
analyses and drug distribution by robots, filmless radiology. Does it
work? Register and see for yourself.

The conference highlights also include:
      - 210 scientific presentations
      - 70 posters
      - 25 workshops /working group meetings
      - 6 keynote presentations
      - 7 panel discussions
      - Partnerships in innovation
      - Village of the future
      - Scandinavian Health Informatics
      - Pre conference symposium in Trondheim
      - National e-health day

Oslo is not an expensive city, except for alcohol.
However, to limit your costs, we recommend the following:

1. Register before May 1st to get the early bird rate!

2. Join your national society to take advantage of the EFMI discount.

3. Reserve airline tickets as soon as possible – last minute discounts
are rare. Widen your search – as there are three airports in the
Oslo area (Gardemoen, Rygge, Torp). You will find the lowest rates
at Ryanair, Norwegian Air Shuttle and similar airlines – flights
from 7 one way still available. Our official carrier Star alliance
can offer good rates, good service – and a MIE2011 discount.

4. For budget accommodation – Internet is your friend. There are
still double rooms available for 36€/person/night. The official
hotels are discounted and guaranteed – you will not get a better
rate directly from the hotel. Book now – Oslo is quite busy in
   August.

5. Remember that the conference fee covers lunch, receptions, and
   transportation to the hospital visit.

Looking forward to seeing you in Oslo August 28.-31.
