Job description:

The Department for Computational Linguistics of the
Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf (Chair of Computational
Linguistics: Prof. Dr. Laura Kallmeyer) offers a position as
wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (TV-L E13, 65%) for a doctoral
student. The position is subject to being granted by the DFG; the
decision will be in May 2011.

The position is part of a project in a Collaborative Research Center
(CRC). If the CRC proposal gets accepted, the CRC and in particular
the doctoral position will start in July 2011. The position is for
four years.

The CRC focusses on the structure of representations in language,
cognition and science with a particular emphasis on frames and on
lexical semantics. The project that this position is part of is
directed by Laura Kallmeyer and is concerned with an integration of a
frame-based lexical semantics into Lexicalized Tree Adjoining
Grammars. It concentrates on English verbs and their semantics.

The candidate should have completed (or complete until July) a MA
degree (or an equivalent degree) in a discipline including
Computational Linguistics. Research fields and research interests
preferably comprise at least one of the following areas: grammar
formalisms, computational semantics, lexical semantics. The candidate
is expected to cooperate with the other project and CRC members and
conduct research in the field of LTAG and lexical decomposition
leading to a dissertation.

The position does not include any teaching duties but, if desired,
teaching a limited amount of courses is possible. The position is part
of a CRC that includes an integrated research training group for PhD
students. This constitutes an exceptionally rich and stimulating
environment for doctoral research.

Salary is on the German scale TV-L E13, 65%. The position is for four
years. The starting date is July 1, 2011.

Applications should include the following:

1. Cover letter outlining interest in the position and academic goals
2. CV including information about education, related work and about
   volunteer experience
3. Copies of certificates.
4. If available, a copy of the MA thesis and other sample
   publications.
