Job description:

We are currently looking for a highly qualified Portuguese linguist to
join an international team for the development of MT resources. Primary
responsibilities are:

..  Adaptation of our Portuguese language pairs to the new spelling
    conventions for Portuguese

..  Work on European Portuguese - Brazilian Portuguese localization of
    the Portuguese MT input and output

..  Corpus-based dictionary development for Portuguese language pairs

..  Improvement of Portuguese analysis and automatic dictionary coding
    resources

..  Integration and testing of linguistic resources

Required skills:

The ideal candidate should have strong interest in developing and
enhancing the capabilities of machine translation and meet the following
requirements:

..  Native competence of Portuguese and fluency in English and French

..  Profound knowledge of the Portuguese spelling reform and ability to
    specify rules converting text to the new spelling conventions

..  Good working knowledge of computational lexicography and NLP methods
    in general

..  Strong skills in Portuguese, English and French morphology and
    syntax

..  Working knowledge of Perl and scripting languages is a plus

..  Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team

Education and experience:

..  Advanced degree in Computational Linguistics, Linguistics or
    Translation Studies (Master or PhD), and 2+ years experience in an
    industrial or academic NLP environment
