“What is your BLEU score?” This is the single most irrelevant question
relating to machine translation quality, yet one of the most frequently
asked. There are many ways to measure machine translation – and just as
many ways to misinterpret them. This month’s webinar discusses a variety
of metrics for machine translation and best practices that give
meaningful metrics for real-world scenarios.
Joining Dion Wiggins, Asia Online’s CEO, is Kevin Nelson, Managing
Director at Omnilingua Worldwide. Kevin will present recent SAE J2450
metrics that compare a customized Asia Online Language Studio™ engine
with a competitor Omnlingua recently upgraded from. Kevin will also
discuss productivity and how it is measured. This is one of the most
crucial measurements and can readily be compared to other machine
translation, as well as human translation output.
Key topics covered include:
* Best practices in measuring and comparing translations
* Measuring quality with Language Studio™
* Measuring quality with the SAE J2450 standard
* Measuring and comparing productivity
