When we lived in Germany, my kids used to be bilingual Dutch/German.
When they occasionally did not know the German name for an obscure
Dutch word, they would Germanize it. Therefore back then, and some-
times even now, we refer to Beschuit as 'Beschuetze'. (note how even
small children are able to apply the second Germanic sound shift.)
