Whiles in makkin a translate a body haes tae be tenty o cultural as weel as
linggistic differs. The first smiley's ma ain cultural reaction as a Scots
spaeker, the saicont's the reaction A wad expect o a American hearin sic
wittins   *\:)

Sometimes in translating a passage one has to allow for cultural as well as
linguistic differences. The first emoticon is my own cultural reaction as a
Scots speaker, the second the reaction I would expect from an American
hearing such news  c):)
