You asked: >Doesn't omission of the past participle prefix _ge-_ also occur
in some Upper German dialects?<

The following "Schweizer Lied" is quoted in Astrid Stedje's "Deutsche
Sprache gestern und Heute":

Uf em Bärgli bin i gsässe,
hab de Vögel zue geschaut.
Si händ gsunge, si händ gschprunge,
schöne Näschtli händ si baut.

Which I think means:

I sat on a hill [and] watched the birds.
They sang, they hopped, fine nests they built.

(Is this "Näschtli" the origin of the Nestlé trademark?)

händ = haben. baut = gebaut.

Stedje does not, however, list the loss of "g(e)-" among "characteristics"
of Schwyzerdütsch (her spelling: it can also be written
"Schwyzertü[ü]tsch"). I can't find a reference to it in "Wie sagt man in der
Schweiz?" or "Wie sagt man in "Österreich?"
