Dear Ron

 Oebele Vries, from University of Groningen, points out that the phrase is
used by Piter Jelles Troelstra. The verse containg the line 'Frijdom wie de
heechste wet yn it eale Friez'ne hert' ends with 'Eala frya fresena'. Dr
Vries suggests it translates as either 'Nobel, free Friesians' or "Hail
free Friesians!' This comes from an inspiring, informal lecture given in
Wyns, in July, entitled 'Wat frijheid foar de Friezen betsjutte.'
