Subject: Songs

Sandy mentioned "Wap an Rowe" again. I previously suggested that these words
might mean "warp and weft" and that the song depended on double entendre.
Are both these ideas definitely wrong?

Ron mentioned "Au clair de la lune". I only know two verses, and I can't
imagine Mr Jenkins, our French teacher, making us learn anything rude.
Is/are there more?

Yes, John.  There are four verses altogether.  The last two are pretty much
routinely omitted when the song is presented as a children's song, which is
most of the time (at least outside Francophone areas).  Verses 3 and 4 are not
super-explicit but still pretty obvious to adults (more so than "warp and
weft," I suppose).  And you don't want little children asking to many
questions about it, do you?

Anyway, since this is only a non-Lowlandic aside, I will not present it here
but will send you the entire text privately and am willing to send it also to
others who request it.

P.S.: Of course, it should be spelled _clair_ rather than *_claire_.
