Subject: Resources
Dear Lowlanders,
There are now two new versions of the Low Saxon (Low German) folktale _De
Tuunkrüper_ (The Wren):
http://www.geocities.com/sassisch/rhahn/low-saxon/ls-story.html
Thanks to our own +Fr Andreas, there is now an East Tennessee Appalachian
version.
Also, I have produced a version in Hamburg Missingsch. ("Missingsch" denotes
German dialects on Low Saxon/Low German substrates.)
These are the versions we have so far:
Low Saxon (Low German):
North Saxon (Germany): De Tuunkrüper (several versions)
Eastern Friesland: De Tuunkruper [Holger Weigelt]
Mennonite ("Plautdietsch"):
Molochna: De Tuunkjeenig [Eldo Neufeld]
Khortitza: De Tünkjenikj [Jack Driedger]
Other Languages:
West Germanic:
Dutch (Standard): Het winterkoninkje [Henk Wolf]
Brabantish: 't Köningske [Luc Hellinckx]
Flemish (Central): 't Keuninkske [Luc Vanbrabant]
Limburgish: 't Winterkuningske [Mathieu von Woerkom]
English (Standard): The Wren [Reinhard F. Hahn]
Appalachian (Eastern Tennessee): The Wren [+Fr Andreas]
Scots: The Wran [Sandy Fleming]
German (Standard): Der Zaunkönig [Reinhard F. Hahn]
Missingsch (Hamburg): Dä Zaunkönich [Reinhard F. Hahn]
Versions in other language varieties would be very welcome, not only Lowlandic
and Germanic ones. If they are non-standard language varieties and have no
official orthographies, please just write them to the best of your ability
using whatever seems to be the most appropriate or comfortable systems.
Please send your versions to me at <sassisch at yahoo.com>.
Thanks in advance, and happy holidays!
Reinhard/Ron
