Etymology of _mate_, _meat_, _measure_ etc.

Perhaps it should be mentioned that some (v.i.) believe
that two IE roots are involved.

*mad- : relating to food and food quality (soft, juicy, wet).
        some derivatives: _mate_, _meat_, _muesli_ etc.
        germanic: *_mati-_

*med- : relating to measure.
        some derivatives: _medic-_, _modest_, _empty_ etc.
        germanic: *_metan_
