Roger Thijs informed us of a recent top-ten of popular poems in Flanders. I
guess that six, maybe seven  out of that list woult appear in a top-ten of
popular poems in The Netherlands: nr. 1 (Andreus), nr. 2 Elsschot. nr. 5 (Van
Ostaijen), nr. 6 (Egidiuslied) nr. 7 (Van Ostaijen again), nr. 9 (van Eyck),
end perhaps nr. 10 (De Coninck). There has been such listing last year, but I
quote from my memory. Apparently, Flemish poets are popular over here; we use
the same school anthologies on both sides of the border, and Herman de
Coninck's poetry is becoming classical so soon.
