In Limburgish _flemoesj_ is indeed a 'normal' word, just like _mösj_, al least
in the south. They both also feature in the standard Limburgisch dictionary.
Under Dutch _framboos_ (raspberry) I found:

Dialekt "Üvelgönne".  Dat gifft 't ook as Ortsnaam:

Övelgönne:
* nu 'n Deel vun Hamborg, Düütschland
* 'n Ort in in Neddersassen, nich wied af vun Hamborg, Düütschland
* 'n Ort twüschen Bremen, Ollenborg un d'n Jadebusen, Neddersassen,
Düütschland
* 'n Ort bi de Lübecker Bucht, Sleswig-Hulsteen, Düütschland
* 'n Ort dicht bi Maideborg, Sassen-Anhold, Düütschland

Euvelgunne:
* nu 'n Deel vun Grönnen (Groningen), Grönnen, Nedderlannen

Weett een mang Ju, neem düt Woord _Gönne_/_gunne_ vun afkamen is?

Lowlanders,

Reiner mentions above the Low Saxon (Low German) word _Üvelgönne_ (which is
its form in his Westphalian dialect) in connection with the American English
use of "slough."  I should mention that it also occurs as a place name:

Övelgönne:
* a town now part of Hamburg, Germany
* a town in Lower Saxony near Hamburg, Germany
* a town between Bremen, Oldenburg and the Jadebusen, Lower Saxony, Germany
* a town on the Lübeck Bay, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
* a town near Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany

Euvelgunne:
* now a part of greater Groningen, Groningen, Netherlands

Does anyone know the etymology of _Gönne_/_gunne_?

I wonder if Neustadtgödens (Low Saxon *_Neestadtgödens_?) on the eastern edge
of Eastern Friesland (not far from Willemshaben/Wilhelmshaven) qualifies.

But, Ted, do you really need this word to occur in Continental place names to
be convinced?
