Maybe interesting to know that the word for "father" is 'toate' in the Low-
Saxon dialect of the former island of Urk (now part of Flevoland), but only
(so
I've heard) when you speak directly to him.

Concerning the word "heit" for father, I cannot explain the origin, however,
I have a copy of a Friesian Pater Noster printed in the late 1700's which
begins as follows: "Ws heita duu dersu(?) biste yne hymil..." - here we see
another example of the word "heit" used as "father".

Just thought it would be interesting to pass this along.
