Moin Ron and Lowlanders,

I wanted to make all interested Lowlanders aware of the Germanic Languages &
Literatures webpage at the University of Kansas website. They have some
interesting information and audio samples of the German dialects (both High
and Low) used in Kansas as well as Mennonite Low German. The audio samples
can be found below.

http://www.cc.ukans.edu/~german/KHC_Project.html

There is also information on a conference that they will be hosting -
'Symposium on German Settlement Dialects: Sprachinselkonferenz 2001, March
29-April 1'. It covers a large range of linguistic topics and includes
papers/presentations on several varities of Low and High German (including
Pennsylvania Deitsch). I myself am on the wrong side of the Atlantic to
attend, but I'm sure there are many from the list who would be interested.

Veel Spijook !!

Thank you for the tip, Keith.

I have added links to our Low Saxon (Low German) online resource guide
(http://www.geocities.com/sassisch/rhahn/lowlands/links_neddersassisch.htm).
Also, I have entered a reference to the department under "North America" and
"Kansas" at "Nu is de Welt platt!"

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
