Dear Lowlanders,

I will be leaving for Germany and Florida this Thursday, September 6, and
expect to be back home on or before Monday, September 24.  Sandy Fleming
kindly agreed to stand in as "listmaster" in the meantime.  He has done so on
previous occasions, so I foresee no problems.

Please send your posting submissions to
<lowlands-l at listserv.linguistlist.org>, as usual, and the list server will
automatically pass them on to Sandy instead of to me.

If your submissions are in language varieties other than English and Scots,
please do Sandy a kindness and add appropriate short subject titles and also
language flags, either writing the whole language name in parentheses or
brackets or adding the current language codes:

A  = Afrikaans
Ap = Appalachian
D  = Dutch (Nederlands)
E  = English
F  = Frisian (Frysk)
L  = Limburgish (Limburgs)
LS = Low Saxon/Low German (Neddersassisch/Nedderdüütsch/Plattdüütsch)
S  = Scots
Sh = Shetlandic (Shaetlan)
Z  = Zeelandic (Zeêuws)

If you use another language, please write the whole name (e.g., "French" or
"German").

If there is a problem, please write to Sandy (<sandy at fleimin.demon.co.uk>).

If there is anything that needs taking care of before my departure, please
feel free to write to me (<sassisch at yahoo.com>) before this coming Thursday at
9:00 a.m. my time (= 12:00 a.m. GMT).  There is a fair chance of me checking
my email accounts a couple of times while traveling, but I do not intend to
carry on any lengthy correspondence before my return to Seattle.

Thank you all for your kind consideration and participation.  I look forward
to returning to the fold shortly.
