In Central Scotland (Stirlingshire) it would be the same in both cases
"the
kirk".

I'm not sure if this holds in situations where a question is being
asked:

"D'ye go tae church?" (general rule)
"Huv(hae) ye been tae the kirk?" (specific event)

I would never say "kirk" without the definite article... no idea why.

On another note, I would always use "go" rather than "gae" even in
otherwise entirely Scots sentences. I have no idea if that's just a
pronunciation issue or evidence of a higher percentage of Scottish
English finding its way into my Scots speech.
